May Race Update!

The Widespan Sheds Autumn Classic has been raced and won. It was a beautiful Autumn day for racing. Threat of rain forecast but nothing ever eventuated for us at Barbagallo Raceway.

Apart from a majority of the Street Cars drivers saying the track was a bit greasy, qualifying went really well. With 20 cars in a combined grid, space was at a premium though. Andrew Stevens was position 1 with a 61.05, Paul Kluck and Denver Parker cane in 2nd and 3rd with only 0.04 seconds separating them.

Race 1 was a bit of a mix up with a few irregular occurrences. Denver had a suspension failure which made him have to DNF to start repairs. Andrew Stevens had a off and lost his iconic front bumper at turn 7 but still managed to finish. Grant was having over boosting issues which really hamstrung him during the race. Paul and Brad had a hard fought battle in their Nissans for first and second whilst Mark and Craig had a good battle for third and forth with Andrew Mclay nearly pipping Craig at the line on the final lap.

Race 2 saw things continue to happen that don't normally happen. Andrew had another moment at turn 1 but fought back to come second overall. Denver popped a cooler hose and limped around. Mark blew fifth gear in his car. Grant was still missing bad so called it a day. Paul stormed home to win race 2, with Brad coming in third. Andrew Mclay, Drew, Craig and Jason all had a good battle for the lower positions. Racing was close which was great to see.

Race 3 took place as the final race of the day. Brad won the last race in front of Paul with Denver storming from rear of the grid to grab third. Mark came in fourth with no fifth gear. Andrew Mclay was next with a limping Andrew Stevens behind with fuel issues. Drew was next up. Craig was having throttle issues all day and Jason unfortunately came off at turn 7 on the last lap.

Paul in his Skyline won the event, Brad came in second in his S15 with Mark Conacher taking third in his Datsun 1600. Was a great event overall. The next event is the Ernie Hastie Collie meet held by Motoring South West on Sunday 21st May.

Sticker Placement

We now have all our sponsor partner stickers printed and if you are missing any please let Paul Kluck know. There will be spares at teh next race meet.

Please ensure that minor sponsor stickers are placed from the back of the front door to the front of the car. If there is no room for them to fit there then the front bumper area is acceptable.

RAC Facades major sticker should be as close to the racing number on your door as possible on both sides of the car.

Window banners are to be displayed at all times.

A-Frames for Race Garages

We have secured an awesome deal with Word Of Mouth Signs to produce
A-frame signs at a special member price. These signs will be the metal
A-frame with a replaceable corflute sign of your cars specifications and driver information.

These will be at a member cost of $55.00 which has been subsidised by the association as well.

We would like to endeavour to keep these signs universal to the category with our logos etc on them, so if you are interested in ordering please contact your category Representative Craig to organise the graphic design for the order.

We encourage all members to have one of these signs in order to promote our cars at the garages and draw attention to the builds, whilst further promoting the category.

Hankook Control Tyres

The Hankook Control Tyre is still being tested as we commence the 2017 season.

Please continue to provide us with feedback on how your tyres are wearing through heat cycles. Stuart from Perth Motorsport Tyres will be at the track for the Sunday meet for all your tyre requirements.

Street Car Racing Association of WA, in association with Perth Motorsport Tyres, have secured a tyre sponsorship with Hankook Competition Tyres.

The Z221 R-comp tyre will now be our control tyre for 2017! Not only this but for racing financial members of SCRAWA, we have enabled a massive discount off the price as well! This is massive news and will save our racers huge amounts of money throughout the year.

Head on over to our website and fill out your membership form as well as your tyre size you will be using for the year.

If you have been questioning the cost of racing door to door or know of people that may be interested to come and race with one of the fastest categories in the state, contact Craig Maloney, our category representative for more information
