Well the start of the racing calendar is fast approaching. There is lots of info to kick of this years newsletters so please take some time to read on and ready yourself for the race season!
Cars are still busily getting prepped and sorted. The 51st Birthday weekend race meet at Barbagallo Raceway is going to be a great weekend which also coincides with the Racewars weekend down at Albany. Good luck to entrants at both events over the long weekend!
The goal for the 2020 year is to have a consistent number of cars on grids and to gradually grow the class. The committee have been putting some things together including rostering members on for car shows/meets, spreading the love as much as possible with flyers banners and the like. I can not wait for the season to begin and to see all the race family out in force again. Race days/weekends are a highlight for so many people. Have a great February prepping and lets see those cars out on grid!

Thunder Sports Cup @ The Bend

We are excited to announce we have a sub-commitee that have formed to help competitors that would like to make the trip to The Bend.
There will be heaps of information as it comes to hand about transport, accommodation and all things road tripping. The organising committee of Drew Watkins, Shaun Mulquiney and Brent Peters are available for all your questions.
The Thunder Sports Cup
The Thunder Sports Cup is a professional standard Motorsport event for grass-roots competitors! With one of the most open circuit racing technical rule books in Australian Motorsport, the emphasis is on maximum fun in loud, angry looking race cars.
With the Series Rules and sponsorship that we have in place, our aim is to accommodate the grass-roots competitor, providing them with maximum fun and bang for buck! This makes The Thunder Sports Cup perfect for the “Garagista”, a term coined by Enzo Ferrari to describe the small back-yard racing teams that dared to challenge and beat a grand Constructor like himself.
In 2020 The Thunder Sports Cup will be 4 rounds with the Australian Motor Racing Series. A true National Category with drivers from 4 states racing across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales, there is a live stream and loads of highlights for the fans to catch all the action.
The Technical Rules are the same for all competitors, however under the Series Rules there are two classes - Class A and Class B. Whilst both classes are on the track at the same time, they are in their own race with each class having their own outright winner, own podium and own points.
If you think you car may fit but are unsure please contact us, if your car is in the spirit of the class there is a good chance you can run.

Observed Licence Test
As we gear towards the start of the 2020 Racing Season, there is generally a call out from New Drivers/Members of each club to get OLTs completed before the first racing meeting of the year so that entry grids are as high as possible.
Therefore, should there be any new drivers in the category who require an OLT to start the racing year off, the WASCC will be holding an OLT session on Tuesday February 18th from 4pm-6pm.
Instructors will be on hand for any driver who needs to be assessed
please note, that this is NOT A PRACTICE SESSION.
Drivers will need to bring the following:
Suitable car to have an instructor sitting alongside
Helmet, enclosed shoes, neck to ankle to wrist clothing
OLT paperwork – that is already filled out where appropriate
RSVP to cameron@wascc.asn.au with name/category
$100 payable to the WASCC
Remember that this is for Drivers who need to sit the OLT to gain their MotorSport Australia Competition Licence.

Sticker Packs
Sticker packs are currently in production and will be available at the First Race meet.
Please ensure that minor sponsor stickers are placed from the back of the front door to the front of the car. If there is no room for them to fit there then the front bumper area is acceptable.
McDonalds, our major sticker should be as close to the racing number on your door as possible on both sides of the car.
Window banners are to be displayed at all times.
