Dear friend,
Did something kind of okay just happen in 2020? I don't know about you but I wasn't really expecting anything from this year anymore. Yet, it did. In two short months Donald Trump won't be the president of the United States anymore. I know that many people, myself included, who wanted Joe Biden to win didn't really want him to win so much as we wanted Donald Trump to lose.
There are some promising aspects of the Biden/Harris campaign. The existence of Kamala Harris as the US's first Black and Indian Amerian woman vice-president is on its own is a big win albeit long overdue. There are to things to do first is o wait and see but the second and the most important is to use the momentum of this win to keep fighting for equality.
To remind us of the good feeling that came with the election results and energise us to keep fighting, we started a series of articles, celebrating important local wins from the US elections. The first two are up, you can read more about them on:
- Sarah Mcbride: the first trans person to be elected into a state senate
- Adrian Tam: the first openly gay man to became a House Representative in Hawaii
