Coming together in the face of adversity

Dear friend,

As 2020 slowly comes to an end (when did that happen by the way), it's hard to keep track of what horrible thing has happened, where in the world. The looming threat of the pandemic and the many governments' incapacity to deal with it, fires, earthquakes and the never-ending human-caused disasters. Yet, bear with me, there might be a bright side to all of it. To me, many of these challenges we're facing also showed how people care for their communities, for strangers, for others all the way on the other side of the world. How people can come together to fight these battles together. So, this week's newsletter I'm sharing three stories with you that exemplify this.

For the past month, there has been a public uproar in Bangladesh after several videos of men sexually attacking women went viral. The government's response was to bring in the death penalty for rapists but the people are not happy with this solution. Read more on Kinder World.

In Poland, a court ruling banned abortion in the country except for cases of rape, incest and great danger to mother’s health, making the majority of the abortions performed in the country illegal. Polish people have been demonstrating against the ruling for weeks now.
