HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
1st Vice President
I am so thankful to be living in this wonderful community and to have been able to see (and meet) many of you at our events over the last couple of months. A huge thank you, congrats and kudos to the following: Lisa Egnitz, Kathleen Bielak and team for Thanksgiving Baskets, Erica Long, Tracey Geden and the entire Craft Fair Committee for overseeing a wonderful Craft Fair this year, and Lidia Gracie (and her family) for organizing Thanksgiving Meals.
We know you have busy schedules this time of year, but we hope to see you at some of our December events listed below. In addition to the events below, our next board meeting will be held on December 12th at 7PM at 26 Exchange St. in Holliston.
Once again, Happy Holidays to each of you. I hope your days are filled with happiness, family, and good cheer!
From the 2nd Vice President
In the spirit of the season I’d like to thank you all for being the life of this club. It’s been said many times, but cannot be said enough, that we value you and thank you for all the help that you provide. Please spread the word to friends and neighbors that we still have open enrollment for the year and would love to have them join in on the fun and goodwill. This not-for-profit organization is for anyone looking to make a difference regardless of how much time you have to give or how long you have lived here.
We’re still growing so please join me in welcoming the following new members: Evie and Harry Dracon, Elizabeth and Michael Mellen, Courtney Norton and Tammy Bourla. We are so glad you joined and please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, concerns or suggestions!
Peace, love and joy to you and yours,
2nd Vice President

Holliston Newcomers Club organizes a meal to be delivered to new parents. If you know of any expecting parents, please let us know. We are happy to do this and are respectful of meal preferences and possible allergies.
The Holliston Newcomers Club collected food donations at our 39th Annual Craft Fair. Many individuals attending the fair brought in a food donation to receive $1 off of admissions. It was a great way for our organization to continue to support the food pantry!
We were able to fill some boxes and all left-over fresh fruit & baked goods were donated!
Hours of Operation:
In case of inclement weather, please call before coming to the Pantry. There is a box for non-perishable items outside of these hours.
- Mon - Fri 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Mon, Weds 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Does this happen to you often? You plan on doing something nice for yourself, but then the hectic schedule of the holiday season has you running yourself ragged doing things for everyone else. Well not this year! Block some time off for a relaxing ladies escape with the Holliston Newcomers Club!
The event will take place on Thursday, December 22 at Elegante Nails right here in town at 798 Washington St. The owner, Diane Ryan, is a Holliston resident and generously offered our group a discount. Appointments will be in the evening, and are flexible to accommodate member commutes and the salon staff.
Please let me know if you'd like to attend so we can try our best to accommodate everyone. Reminder: any member can schedule a ladies escape so if you have an idea please email HNCexecutiveboard@gmail.com.
Hope to see you there,
2nd Vice President
We know this is a busy time of year for everyone but we are hoping that you can find some time in your schedule to attend our holiday ornament exchange. This is a fun opportunity to mix and mingle while getting to know some new people.
The event will be on Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 PM at the home of Kimberly Adkin, 43 Kingsbury Dr. Please bring one wrapped ornament (cost $10 or less) with your name on it to the party. We will be playing a short right left exchange game that will still leave us with plenty of time to socialize.
Please RSVP to Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org or respond to our Evite to let us know you will be attending.
We hope to see you on the 15th.
Book Club is taking a break during the busy holiday season, but we want to give everyone a preview of things to come in 2017.
In January we will be reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night by Mark Haddon. The story is narrated by the main character - Christopher Boone, a 15 year old autistic boy - and follows Christopher’s efforts to discover the truth about the mysterious death of a neighborhood dog. This intriquing mystery is also the inspiration for the tony-winning Broadway hit of the same name that will be playing in Boston March 7-19, 2017. We plan to schedule an outing to go and see the play as a fun follow up event.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 17th at 7:30 PM. Please contact Kim or Christel if you are interested in hosting. The books for January will be at the library in late December and members are welcome to check out a copy on their own before this time.
Stay tuned for updates and information on our new Book Club Facebook page. We are going to add this to our communications to help people get involved and share ideas.
We look forward to seeing everyone in 2017.
Christel DiPippo and Kim Adkin

Gingerbread House Decorating Event
Happy Holidays to everyone in Newcomers!
Don’t forget to sign up for your seat at the Gingerbread House Decorating Event on Saturday, December 10th, 2016! Lisa and I are so excited to once again be co-chairing this event as we love it…it is as much fun for us as it is for all of the families and kids who get to come and create their beautiful – and yummy - Gingerbread Houses!
This event is our next largest fundraiser besides Craft Fair, so a wonderful way to raise money and create some wonderful memories as well – it really is a heartwarming event!
Once again we have the amazing Dee Steffen creating our Gingerbread fresh with all the ingredients, donated by Blue Ginger in Wellesley, where Dee is the Pastry Chef! They fully support Dee’s involvement and allow her to give her time and effort to us, and we cannot thank them and her enough. We also have amazing help from our Girl Scout Troop #75346 as well as Maryann Brown who is our candy Queen every year! Lastly, our event is held at the Mount Hollis Lodge, and folks there could not be kinder and more helpful every year!
Seatings available are 10-11AM (SOLD OUT), 11:30AM-12:30PM, 1PM-2PM and 2:30PM-3:30PM and houses are $35.00 per house.
For any allergy or other related questions please contact Lisa at email@example.com but please note this is not an allergen-free zone.

Craft Fair Wrap Up
We had another successful year for the Craft Fair, and it's all thanks to you - our members! I cannot thank you all enough for the incredible amount of support you provided. Set up was done in record time thanks to a lot of quick, heavy lifting. Thanks to our amazing morning team (including some Boy Scout volunteers!), crafters were registered and set up quickly and efficiently.
We had one of the BEST bake tables ever. Nearly every baked good sold, and those that didn't were packed up and picked up by the Food Pantry, along with all of the wonderful fruit left at the end of the day and canned items brought by visitors.
The show boasted over 150 vendors with many returning favorites as well as new, never-seen-in-Holliston-before crafters. For several of our vendors, this was the first show they've ever done and they were so thankful for all of the help from our set up and breakdown teams! It was a wonderful start to the holiday shopping season, and I know I personally picked up a lot of yummy edible items (I may have overdone it at Julie Z's breads!).
Thank you to everyone who volunteered - your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. I tried to thank each one of you personally but missed a few. Please know that this show isn't possible without you!
And of course, I'm incredibly grateful for my amazing team. We all put in overtime these past three months to make sure this show happened. Amanda, Melissa, Tracey, Adie, Beth and Nikki - thank you for your hard work and tireless dedication!

The Thanksgiving Baskets were assembled and delivered to 157 very deserving families! Leading up to assembly day we received very generous donations from many of our wonderful businesses in town along with a huge outpouring of support from individual donors that helped us purchase our produce, rolls and extra supplies that we did not receive at the food drive. Speaking about the food drive, the Girl Scouts rocked it! They took charge and got us above and beyond what we needed on many items. We really could not have done it without them!
The day of basket packing we had so many great volunteers who helped with produce pickup, box assembly, verifying basket contents and clean up. We had such a great team we were finished with everything by 11:00! We couldn’t be more thankful for the support we received from the community on this project. We enjoyed our own Thanksgiving meals and are so happy we had a little part in making it a great day for so many others!
Thank you HNC!
