Harmonic Conversations with Lee Oskar

In this “Harmonic Conversation,” Lee demonstrates the differences between using a Lee Oskar Harmonicas Major Diatonic and a Melody Maker™ to create different styles and sounds. He plays Reggae music using a Melody Maker™ for a more authentic sound than using a Major Diatonic (which he says creates Oompah style music). He then creates the train sound using a Major Diatonic harmonica, which works better for this purpose than the Melody Maker™.

Congo in the Mississippi

This new Playing For Change "Song Around The World" started under the hot African sun in the village of Lukala in the Congo. Playing For Change added new musicians from around the world to this song as they traveled over the past few years. The final piece was added with Grandpa Elliott playing his Lee Oskar Harmonica solo in New Orleans!

We LOVE hearing from our global community about your musical adventures and explorations with Lee Oskar Harmonicas!

We believe Lee Oskar harps are meant to be enjoyed by all, for a lifetime of music! So we created a special campaign known as  “For All/For Life,” which is based on the idea that Lee Oskar Harmonicas are ideal for musicians of all kinds, levels, genres and styles, as well as for people of all ages, stages and walks of life.

Here’s what Jef G. from Oregon shared with us recently:

“All it took was a few seconds of playing on a Lee Oskar harp to know that I had found 'the sound' that I had been looking for! The first thing I noticed, because of my background in mechanical engineering drafting, was the closer tolerances on the Lee Oskar harp.

Your harps are so perfectly balanced tonally... oh man. I listened to a recording I made with a little 2-minute 'ramble' on it... it sounded so good! The articulation is really quick. I was almost accidentally discovering new 'phrases'.

There is a difference when you work with that precise of a product. Ten-thousandths (0.0000) is like a watchmaker's world. I'm glad that I have the background to appreciate that. Keep up the good work! “

We appreciate hearing stories like this. What’s your Lee Oskar Harmonicas story? Tell us your story!  answerdesk@leeoskar.com
