Around this time a year ago, just before COVID-19 restrictions went into effect, Lee presented a special benefit concert to help save The Historic Everett Theatre (HET), a landmark that has richly served Lee’s community of Everett, Washington with outstanding arts programming since 1901. However, in recent years, the HET had fallen on hard economic times, so Lee was passionate about helping to rally support through a benefit performance by Lee Oskar & Friends.
The musical program featured an evening of live jazz and blues with Lee Oskar & Friends, including Lee on the harmonica with band members Alex Mortland on guitar, Dean Schmidt on bass, Andrew Cloutier on drums, Denali Williams on percussion, Ed Weber on keys and Darian Asplund on saxophone. In addition, local young musicians from the School of Rock—Lynnwood, WA performed as the benefit’s opening act. Lee Oskar Harmonicas sponsored the concert so that 100% of the proceeds from the evening went toward supporting the continuation of the Historic Everett Theatre.
