Lee Oskar - Nashville Gordon JCC, 2022 Featurette

Lee Oskar's “Never Forget” Tour in Nashville

We are thrilled to tell you about a very special two-part “Never Forget” event that happened earlier this month at the Gordon Jewish Community Center in Nashville, which was built around Lee’s original artwork, music and family history.

Throughout the month of April, in honor of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), we are very honored that Lee’s stunning original artwork from the Never Forget Collection has been installed in a dedicated gallery at the JCC, featuring 29 giclees of his original paintings.

The first part of his Nashville Tour included an Artist Reception, during which Lee spoke about his paintings and the powerful stories and emotions that inspired him.

On the following day, Lee shared his art, his music and his reflections on the Holocaust and family history to a highly engaged crowd of JCC patrons and community members. Interacting with people in this way was “cathartic” for Lee, and for those who participated, all the deeply personal elements that he shared coalesced to create a truly unforgettable and deeply moving experience for all.

Never Forget is available in CD, Vinyl  (Collector’s Edition) and for download.

What the Critics are Saying about Never Forget

“The son of a Holocaust survivor, Copenhagen-born Lee Oskar comes to terms with his family’s experiences on this profoundly moving musical memoir. Composed, produced and illustrated by

the 74-year-old harmonica virtuoso, Never Forgets represents a pinnacle in his career.” Bill Milkowski (Downbeat Magazine)

“Lee Oskar’s songs like “Far Away Dreams” and “Song From Mom” become a healing force to those terrible memories from World War II. In many ways, the soaring notes from the man’s harmonica allow the human spirit to move toward healing, even all these years later, and find a place where uplifting sounds takes the place of memories of war. The way these songs offer a path past the lowest depths of human depravity is a miracle in the making, and one that Lee Oskar will always honor. Never ever forget.”—Bill Bentley (Americana Highways/Bentley’s Bandstand)
