Over the years, a lot of people have asked me why I started my own harmonica company. The fact is, as a globally touring musician beginning in the ‘70’s, I became increasingly frustrated by the poor quality of the harmonicas that were on the market, which didn’t come close to meeting my requirements and artistic standards. So by the early 80’s, I was on a mission to find the best manufacturing partner who could collaborate with me on my design ideas. I was thrilled to have connected with Tombo Manufacturing of Japan, a company that was founded in 1917, with a five-generation history of manufacturing excellence. We worked together closely with tremendous attention to every detail, and launched the Lee Oskar Harmonicas system in 1983.

Now, almost 40 years later, we are very proud of the fact that we manufacture the very same product since we began, and that’s with the same superior quality control, consistent attention to detail and commitment to excellence which have stood the test of time. I am particularly proud that together, we innovated a unique and highly dependable harmonica system that is interchangeable and replaceable...widely considered to be the gold standard in the industry.
