With the COVID-19 pandemic predominating the news cycle and our lives in general, we’re heartened to see that people are finding joy and solace in music—whether they’re listening to recordings or live-streams of their favorite artists or making their own music at home.

At a time when people around the world are required to stay sheltered in place and practice social distancing, it’s comforting to know that we will always have music to keep us company, enrich our lives and help us relax. It’s also important to note that playing a musical instrument improves cognitive function, memory, coordination, and emotional wellness.

As Lee has advocated for so many years, harmonica playing in particular can help enhance your health and well-being by improving your breathing, building up your lung capacity, lowering stress and anxiety, and calming your mind. Because breathing is a major component of harmonica playing, naturally, you will experience many benefits from playing while enjoying the music that you can easily make from this versatile instrument.

Bill Long - 84 years old- living with Alzheimer’s and still playing the harmonica.

On a related note, we were so touched by this amazing PSA created by Lee Oskar Harmonicas Featured Artist Brian Collins, who brought together 60 musicians (including Lee Oskar, who was honored to be included), actors and comedians, who joined forces with hundreds of front line heroes who work to keep us safe and healthy in the battle against  COVID-19. This emotional PSA features clips submitted by the participants set to Brian’s re-released single, “Shine a Little Love.” This video beautifully conveys that “we’re all in this together” in a heartwarming message of hope, positivity and gratitude.

That’s the healing power of music!

Hello dear friends,
We would like to give you all a gift from the new Album (So Much Trouble) which will be released soon. It’s the title track entitled SO MUCH TROUBLE.
It comes as a reminder in these particularly challenging and humbling times.
As we are all being faced with great Challenges, on a human, environmental and social level. It is in times like these when we must remember to take care of ourselves, take care of our loved ones and our environment. Our planet. Our Universe.  Which we are all a part of.  Which is our gift and responsibility.
The great poet RUMI said:
“I am not a single drop in the entire ocean but the entire ocean in a single drop”
Wishing you all the strength, courage, faith and Love to continue moving towards the Light.
Many blessings,
David Rotundo

In honor of Junior Wells, and in recognition of his talents and special relationship to Lee Oskar Harmonicas and Lee, we are pleased to name him a Lee Oskar Harmonicas Featured Artist in memoriam.

Did you know that the late, great Junior Wells, who was one of the pioneers of the blues harp style associated with the “Chicago Blues” sound, was buried with a tray of Lee Oskar harmonicas?!  Junior played Lee Oskar harmonicas for a long time, and he and Lee knew each other as musical friends for several years leading up to his passing in 1998. In fact, Lee performed a memorial tribute to Junior in church during his funeral. As Junior’s family member commented, “Jr. Wells was buried with Lee Oskar harmonicas. I know this to be a fact because I was there at the funeral. Mr. Oskar also played the most beautiful song (solo). I have never heard a harp played that way before. I would like to thank him for being his friend and honoring us with his presence. I miss him every day, but his fans and friends help keep him alive for our family. May God bless and keep all of you.”

In Lee’s words, “I was a huge fan of Junior Wells, and from the time that I first heard him perform when I came to America, I was blown away by his playing. I believe he was an early influence on me back then. He was a truly great performer, singer and harmonica player, but even more than that, he was a very kind, generous and approachable individual. He always made a point to connect with me whenever we were performing in the same area. When I found out that he was buried with Lee Oskar harmonicas, I was truly touched. I miss Junior, and I smile every time I think of him.”
