Lee Oskar started the New Year off with a West Coast tour - as one of the "Harmonica Super Stars" touring in the Mark Hummel Harmonica Blowout

Mark Hummel’s Blues Harmonica Blowout™ started on a Sunday night in 1991 at Ashkenaz in Berkeley with four harmonica players - Rick Estrin, Mark, Dave Earl and Doug Jay. Each player performed a twenty to thirty minute set and everyone jammed together with Hummel’s Blues Survivors as backup.  Over the next five years, it grew to become a multi-venue event around California and included bigger names like William Clarke, Norton Buffalo and Paul DeLay. By the year 2000 the Blowout was headlining Yoshi's in Oakland as a four night show with Rod Piazza, Kim Wilson, Rick Estrin, James Harman and Billy Branch.  These shows were recorded for Mountain Top Records.

Since then it’s become a who’s who of older and younger players, black, white, male and female, national and international.  From icons like Snooky Pryor, Carey Bell, James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, John Mayall, John Hammond, Little Sonny, Lazy Lester, Billy Boy Arnold, Sam Myers, Corky Siegel, Magic Dick, Huey Lewis, Lee Oskar, Jerry Portnoy, Howard Levy and Paul Oscher to younger players like Sugar Ray Norcia, Jason Ricci, Son Of Dave, Aki Kumar, Curtis Salgado, Kenny Neal, RJ Mischo, Sugar Blue, Annie Raines, Carlos Del Junco, just to name a few.

The selection of guitarists has also been a stunner including Duke Robillard, Rusty Zinn, Bob Welsh, Little Charlie Baty, Anson Funderburgh, Jr. Watson, Billy Flynn, Steve Freund, Mike Keller and many more.

Year after year Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout™ continues to play festivals nationally and internationally as well as sold out venues coast to coast. This year Mark Hummel’s Annual Blues Harmonica Blowout will feature the Super Stars of harmonica with: Magic Dick, Lee Oskar, Jerry Portnoy and special guest Duke Robillard on guitar and of course Mark Hummel himself.

The guys kicked off their tour with two sold out shows in Lee's home city of Seattle, WA, then continuing with a full house performance and workshop in Portland, OR and another fun show in Yakima, WA and Eugene, OR.

The guys now continue South down the coast with shows in Folsom, CA, two shows in Berkeley, CA and then back up North to play in Arcata, CA for their final show. You will not want to miss this amazing line up of Harmonica Super Stars - so catch a remaining show near you

Billy Watson
You never quite know what you are going to get with bluesman Billy Watson. The singer/harmonica player might drill down deep one time with some grinding blues shuffles. He might drive people onto the dance floor with some quickstep boogie or swing. Or, he might just caress some eerie sounds that would fit in with a 3 a.m. monster movie. You can be assured though, he will be entertaining.

Billy was one of the first harmonica players to purchase the newly released Lee Oskar Harmonicas back in 1983 and they have been his "harp of choice" ever since.  Billy is a full-on entertainer, a performance artist by the phrase’s very definition. He has a great reverence for blues tradition and honors it with not just his musical skills, but his ability to get the audience to have fun.

But Dan Murphy.... well he is not just a musician, he is also well known for his specialized, unique adventure tour company: Global Village Tours. Offering some of the world's most unusual & interesting destinations such as: North Korea, Turkmenistan, Cuba and even the Antarctica! Dan has a sense of humor and a personality that some may call infectious, quirky, funny, witty and many other things - depending on who your talking to. But really deep down, we have found Dan to be a very talented, deep thinking and an absolutely intriguing individual.

While Lee Oskar and Dan Murphy were working in the studio last year (August 2019), the two talents sat down to have a little chat for yet another Dan Murphy founded adventure -  THE CHAT - Ranting & Raving with Dan Murphy - Pod Cast.  This episode was just released, and something says this will definitely not be the last time Lee and Dan sits down to talk music, the harmonica and the world.

Grandpa Elliott is a legendary New Orleans musician who has been performing on the streets for over 60 years. Grandpa has always had a song and a smile for everyone who passed by him in the French Quarter and now we are proud to honor him and his legacy with this limited-edition Lee Oskar Harmonica.

As Grandpa Elliott is not able to continue touring as much with the Playing For Change Band, we wanted to find a way to keep the music close to his heart.  In the words of Lee Oskar, “Grandpa Elliott is such a unique and engaging performer who personifies the magic of music to connect with people.  He’s an inspiration, and we’re delighted to honor him with this special harmonica”.

100% of the profits from the sale of these limited harmonicas will go directly to Grandpa Elliott.

Lee Oskar Harmonicas is a proud supporter of these amazing organizations!
