Lee Oskar Harmonicas @ NAMM 2020!

Every year since Lee Oskar Harmonicas was founded, we have participated in the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show, which is a blockbuster annual event in Anaheim, California that is considered to be "the world’s largest trade-only event for the music products, pro audio and event tech industry.”

For all of us at Lee Oskar Harmonicas, this is an important part of our yearly business and we take this opportunity very seriously to connect with our distributors, affiliates, commercial companies, and other instrument manufacturers. It is our annual  “office away from the office”. This year, once again we had our colleagues from Tombo Manufacturing of Japan with us in the Lee Oskar Harmonicas booth, as well as LOH team members Dmitri & Erin Antos.

As part of the NAMM experience for attendees, Lee Oskar wowed passing crowds as he demonstrated the four Lee Oskar Harmonica Tunings. Visitors loved taking photos of our FOR ALL. FOR LIFE. wall.  And as always, we got surprise visits from friends, family, and artists. Lee’s colleague, Harold Brown, (another original founding member of WAR, who was the band’s drummer), stopped in for a visit. Lee Oskar Harmonica’s Featured Artist and recent Grammy Winner, Keb Mo,’ also spent some time with Lee listening to Lee’s newest compositions. Another great highlight came when Victor Wooten, American bass guitarist, record producer, educator, and recipient of five Grammy Awards, setup in a booth across from the Lee Oskar Harmonicas booth. When Lee and Victor played “LowRider” together, their mutual respect came shining through and the crowds in the aisles were blown away by this spontaneous magic.

As an interesing footnote, when Victor was only 5 years old (and quite talented!), he and his brothers opened up for the band WAR!  So all these years later, this recent reunion at NAMM was extra special.

We hope you enjoy this slide show of our action-packed, music-filled week at NAMM!

There’s a reason legendary blues Diva Etta James called Jimmy Z her “Hootchie Cootchie Man” and Dave Stewart of Eurythmics calls him “the best harmonica player in the world.” Jimmy attracts attention. He caught the attention of Rod Stewart, Tom Petty and Eurythmics – all of whom he recorded and toured with. He also caught the attention of Dr. Dre, Barry White, Ziggy Marley, Yes, Bon Jovi, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Macy Gray, Jaguares, and countless others who sought out Jimmy Z’s blazing harmonica and soulful saxophone to spice up their recordings.

From a smoky 20-seat bar in Sacramento to the 300,000 person sold out Rock in Rio concert with Rod Stewart in Brazil, Jimmy has toured the world blowing crowds away with his electrifying stage presence. Performing in 1988 with Eurythmics for the Nelson Mandela Concert at Wembley Stadium and televised to 1 billion people worldwide, Jimmy’s harmonica solo on Must Have Been an Angel brought the world to its knees.

Thanks Davor Buncic - Buna for sending this one all the way from Zagreb, Croatia!
Three of Zagreb reputable Blues Rock musicians, Davor Buncic - Buna, Zoran Haramincic - Hara and Vedran Zanko, first came spontaneously to perform and play together as BE HA VE Blues Band in year 2012 during Timepieces Music Festival, concert dedicated to Eric Clapton’s music. After that concert band stayed together and performed at numerous performances organized by Croatian Blues Forces association. The band is currently producing new music and working on a new album.

I bought War’s first album in 1969 and I’ve always been a fan of Lee’s exemplary playing. I moved from Pennsylvania to California in 1998 and I saw Lee do a seminar at Morey’s Music in Lakewood CA around 1999 when Lee explained how he would NOT allow his harps to be released for sale until they met his personal high standards. He is a good man and a great musician accordingly!

I also play harmonica and love his regular and minor keys and now that he's going to start producing lower tuned harps, his palette is almost full (gotta have all the keys eventually, you know!)
You company produces such a fine product and if there was one Blues photo that defined this year's NAMM Show, I thought that Lee deserved it.
Keep up the great work!
