$98 thousand in estimated damage
CAUSE:
The cause was ruled as incendiary by HFD Arson investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene and found fire coming from the roof of a 2-story structure. The building appeared to be abandoned and crews began an offensive attack. Crews opened up the building and performed a primary search. Two water supplies were established and the attack was switched to defensive mode. Several additional units were also requested to assist. After a bulk of the fire was knocked down, the firefighters re-entered the building to control the hot spots. There were no utilities in the building and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The building and area around it was cordoned off and a portion of Milam Street was barricaded until Public Works and The Department of Neighborhoods could evaluate the structure. Crews from Stations 16, 6, 8, 15, 7, 25, 33, 30, 24 and Rehab 17 responded to this incident.
