Duplex Fire in The Magnolia Park Area

PROPERTY SAVED:
More than $54 thousand in estimated property saved
DAMAGE:
$3,500 in estimated damage
CAUSE:
Unintentional 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming from the front of a 1-story duplex and made entry into one unit to began an offensive attack on the fire. A primary search was completed and the utilities were secured. The fire was extinguished and was determined to be due to an air conditioner unit plugged into a 15 amp card which was plugged into an overloaded outlet. The landlord was notified and both residents were asked to stay elsewhere until a certified electrician could make necessary repairs. Crews from Stations 20, 23, 26, 18 and 40 responded to this incident.
