2017 Marketing Tip #5: Using Zillow for Marketing

This week we sent out "Zillow postcards".    That's simply a postcard we designed specifically to send to people who purchased a house in the past year in our service area.  Here's how it works...


I am part of the Contractor Sales Academy (CSA), where people are always sharing ideas on sales, marketing and business in general. Both Jay McCormack and Matt Boring shared with the CSA that they had great success using Zillow as a tool in their  marketing process.  They search for both houses for sale and houses that were recently sold in their market areas that have ponds. 

The searches can include terms such as  "koi pond"  or "fish pond" or many other commonly searched pond-type terms.  From there, you will get a list of houses that match your request, and most houses have pictures on Zillow as well.  Double check to make sure they have a pond photo or mention a pond in their home description.  Then create a mailing list using Vistaprint's specific requirements.


After I had my mailing list ready, I was ready to design my postcard.  I had our graphic  designer create the postcard for me (he charged me $100 to design it-- well worth it in my opinion.)   I went with the oversize postcard to better stand out.  I chose to have Vistaprint both print and then mail my postcards. You can also have them print the postcards and mail them to you to send out.   I made sure to put myself on the mailing list so I know what goes out when. I then plan to add to my Zillow list monthly and will continue to send postcards for at least a year.
