Time to dedicate and celebrate!
The process we started as a congregation back in 2017 comes to a close this weekend as we dedicate our renewed worship space and celebrate with a grand organ concert from a globally-renowned musician.
Dedication Worship Services
During each worship service this weekend, August 28-29, we will formally dedicate our renovated worship space and the elements of worship within it. Special prayers will be offered up for the various elements such as our altar, ambo, baptismal font, and organ; that these earthly creations my point people to God's glory and help lead people to Christ. We will also unveil a special arrangement for choir and organ entitled "Ponder Anew" commissioned from Dr. Wayne Wold for this dedication in memory of Delaine "Ding" Sather, a long-time member of our choir.
Dedication Organ Recital
The Parsons Pipe Organ Builders "Opus 50" organ is one of the largest, most well-equipped tracker organs in the upper Midwest, and we can't wait to hear it put through its paces. This Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. we will host an organ recital featuring renowned organist, Dr. Ahreum Han Congdon. While she has travelled the world as a featured virtuoso performer, Dr. Congdon received her Doctorate here at the University of Iowa, and we are excited to welcome her back!
The Concert will be Live-streamed
For those with health concerns who do not want to attend in-person, we will have it streaming on our worship site, firstlutherancr.online.church The concert cannot remain online after the performance due to copyright restrictions, so be sure to tune in live!
