From the Superintendent's Desk...

The Tecumseh Local School District is extremely fortunate to have an Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) unit at Tecumseh High School (THS)! Cadets work under the direction of Major James D. Couch (ret) and Master Sergeant Antonio G. Ruiz (ret).
ROTC is a coed program which does not seek to recruit students to the military. Instead, ROTC programs seek to develop and encourage the characteristics of leadership, orderliness, self-reliance, self-discipline, pride in one’s self and pride in one’s unit and all of its cadets.

Financial Update

As a school district we are often asked about school funding and how it is distributed.  The Ohio Department of Education has written the following concise language to explain.
How School Funding is Distributed
Public school districts use a combination of state funds, local sources such as property taxes (and in some cases income taxes) and federal funds.
The amount of state funds that a district receives is based on a formula that takes into account the student enrollment and the property wealth of the district.

Tecumseh Prepares for State-Mandated Testing

The state’s testing window begins in March and ends in mid-April. Students in grades 3 through 12 will participate in the assessments. At the high school level, these are also referred to as End of Course (EOC) exams.

Last year, only fourth and eighth graders took online tests. This year online administration is mandatory for all districts with the technological capacity to administer the assessments online. Principals will communicate specific grade and subject level testing dates with parents.

Practice test items for the assessments are available to parents/guardians and students and are located on the Ohio Department of Education website under the Testing Portal. Please visit oh.portal.airast.org/ocba. Once at the site, locate and select the “Practice Tests” tab located on the right side of the page. You can sign in as a guest and select grade level and subject area practice tests.
