Venue #2: Great Hall of the Russian Theatre
The music video for Pet Shop Boys' "Together" was partially filmed at the Great Hall of the Russian Theatre
The Russian Theatre, located by the Freedom square in Tallinn, is regarded as one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful theatres. The theatre is the only professional Russian theatre in the country and the keeper of Russian thespian traditions in Estonia. It was constructed 1926 in the luxurious Art Deco style; the building, which was designed to be a cinema, housed the premier cinema of the First Republic, the Gloria Palace. During the season of 2004/2006, the Russian Theater had undergone a general reconstruction, resulting in restoration of the historical image of the building's interiors. At the same time, the theatre was turned into one of the most technically perfect theater venues.
Team Member #2: Gábor Móczar

Gábor Móczar  is the President of European Choral Association - Europa Cantat and was the Managing Director of Europa Cantat XIX in Pécs, Hungary.
We asked him two questions about the upcoming festival!

What do you expect from the Europa Cantat XX Tallinn? What are you especially looking forward to?

Ever since I have been. working with wonderful choral friends and colleagues from Estonia, and especially after July 2014 when we visited the Estonian Song Celebration with my friends on the Executive Board of ECA-EC, I was secretly keeping my fingers crossed for our biggest event happening once in Tallinn. I know you have a very well established choral network here, with a very intense participation of Estonian citizens in choral life, nevertheless an utmost experienced organising capacity due to the perhaps oldest tradition choral community event on our continent. I am looking forward very much to EUROPA CANTAT XX because it can give a lot of new ideas, features and specialities to our European choral community, surrounded by the wreath of talented contemporary composers' works, high participation of people from your country and other Baltic states, radiating out to the world the message of piece and understanding.

How are your feelings towards Tallinn? How does it inspire? How would you compare Tallinn to Pécs?

I feel very excited about the festival's programme, historic locations, about how the traditions of the Song Celebration can be implied into the special structure of EUROPA CANTAT. I hope Tallinn can carry on the initiative we were emphasising on very much in Pécs: build a bridge with the region and give a chance to your neighbours to get involved and fall in love with the spirit of our exceptional event. Tallinn is a completely different city of Pécs but this what makes EUROPA CANTAT very versatile throughout decades. The long nights, the seaside, the historical surrounding of a Hansa-city with lots of marvellous open air venues provide the programme with a call for a vast creativity in designing a fantastic atmosphere. But you are indeed in a very positive situation what marketing your city and country: for a choral singer it's a MUST to go and see Estonia in a lifetime, I will also bring my family but not only to enjoy but also to work for the festival's success as volunteers. We'll have another opportunity to enjoy Tallinn a year later as we are all longing to be there at the next Song Celebration in 2019.

Excited about Tallinn, but you have no idea what to visit/to do/to see in Tallinn? Don't worry, our locals share some of their favourite spots and recommend some not well known places in Tallinn!
KASPAR, 28, CONDUCTOR OF MIXED CHOIR HUIK! AND AT THE 12TH YOUTH SONG CELEBRATION
I really recommend to visit Kloostri Ait (Monastery Granary) in the Latin Quarter of the Old Town - spacious, but still very cozy. It has a very spiritual atmosphere, where great ideas come up!  While walking towards Kloostri ait, it is highly recommended to look up - the facades of the houses in the Old Town are full of surprises!
KAIJA, 24, SINGER AT CHAMBER CHOIR HEAD ÖÖD, VEND
One of my favourite places in Tallinn is the Kohtuotsa viewing platform in our Old Town. In my opinion the view that opens up to Tallinn pretty well sums up our city: medieval Old Town with its red roofs mixed with modern new skyscrapers. The view also describes Estonians pretty well – proud of our heritage but also eager to be innovative. And it is almost impossible to describe how amazing the whole city looks during the sunset, so don’t miss it!
Estonian is not an easy language, therefore it's the perfect time to start learning it! With every newsletter we will teach you one very important Estonian word, so that you could master it in Tallinn 2018!
Alright, that's about it for this time! Follow us on Facebook, for any questions send us an e-mail and check out our website for more information.
