Naturally Boulder's Community to Support Metro Caring

YOU can participate by contributing time, food, or money
As Denver's frontline hunger-prevention organization, Metro Caring meets people’s immediate need for food while also sustainably addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty. Using a multifaceted approach, Metro Caring is innovative in how they solve problems related to hunger, with programming offered in Healthy Foods Access, Nutrition Education, and Self-Sufficiency.

Over the next several months, Naturally Boulder is organizing numerous service project events at Metro Caring’s facility in Denver, as well as facilitating food and monetary donations to this amazing organization. NB also has a fun fundraising event in the works... more details on all this coming soon!

Naturally Boulder Adds Peter Mohr as Operations and Administration Manager

Peter to help oversee NB's continued growth
Naturally Boulder warmly welcomes Peter Mohr to its staff!  Peter, who previously worked with Impact Hub Boulder, serves as Naturally Boulder's full time Operations and Administration Manager. He oversees the operational duties of this 1,100-member trade group, including member communications, website updates, and ensuring the NB office has the best tunes playing at all times. If you haven't yet met this wonderful guy, be sure to say hello next time you're at a NB event! 

WTRMLN WTR Moving Headquarters from New York to Denver  

Company will be led by former CEO of New Belgium Brewing Co.
WTRMLN WTR is moving its headquarters from New York to Denver and will be led by the former CEO of New Belgium Brewing Co, Christine Perich. The company, which specializes in cold-pressed watermelon water, is moving its headquarters to the River North neighborhood. The move to Denver follows a year of growth for the company, which sells its products online and now is in 10,000 stores across the U.S., including Whole Foods Market and Safeway stores in Denver.  

Good Karma Forms Partnership with Dean Foods

Partnership will increase distribution and product innovation

Boulder-based Good Karma formed an investment and distribution partnership with Dean Foods that will allow Good Karma to more quickly advance its mission of inspiring goodness and expand distribution of its non-dairy beverages and yogurts across the U.S. The partnership will also provide an opportunity to increase investments in brand building and product innovation. While Dean Foods is now a minority investor in Good Karma Foods, the company will remain headquartered in Boulder and will operate as an independent company led by the existing leadership team.


Rowdy Mermaid Doubles its Size

Company launches Series A round to increase distribution
Boulder-based Rowdy Mermaid is undergoing a growth spurt, doubling in size after just a few months of operations, raising six-figures in venture capital and now seeking a Series A of $2 million. But Rowdy isn’t done growing. Founder James Dunn said he expects the company to skyrocket in the next three to five years — and is preparing for his business to be a $40 million company. To jump start that, he’s seeking a Series A round of $2 million, which will go to hiring a chief operations officer so Rowdy Mermaid kombucha can be distributed at more stores.

Goddess Garden Expands Products and Distribution

Company introduces new line of beeswax free SPF 30 lip balms and certified organic sun repair products
Boulder-based Goddess Garden Organics has recently expanded beyond the core set of SPF products into adjacent product categories with the natural extension of a facial-care sun repair line and three unique flavored lip balms. The introduction of sun repair products and lip balms furthers Goddess Garden’s mission to create products that make it easy to respect and protect Mother Earth. Every ingredient in the Goddess Garden line of products is carefully considered to make sure it is not only safe and gentle for children and adults, but that they are also safe for the environment.

Birch Benders Ramps Up Distribution

Company adds Hannaford, Fairway and others to retailers as growth continues
Boulder-based Birch Benders has added more retailers across the country after its recent reformulation. The better-for-you pancake and waffle mix maker has added Hannaford, Jewel-Osco, Lowes Foods, Dierbergs, Fairway, Rosauers, and Market of Choice to its resume of retailers. The news comes on the heels of the brand’s announcement that it was added to Whole Foods nationwide this March. The baking mixes which include unique varieties such as sweet potato, chocolate peppermint, six-grain and paleo are also sold in retailers including Target, Sprouts, Hy-Vee, SpartanNash, and ShopRite.

Three Bears Launches New Product

Allergen-Free oatmeal cups with live probiotics and free of all major allergens
Boulder-based Three Bears launched three lines of on-the-go Oatmeal Cups enhanced with probiotics from Ganeden. New flavors include Apple Spice, Cinnamon Rasin, Cranberry Vanilla, and Wild Blueberry. Three Bears products are 100% free of all major allergens and through an innovative partnership, the Oatmeal Cups are now enhanced with Ganeden BC30 live probiotics. New products are on the shelves of Alfalfa’s Market.

JJ's Sweets Launches Cocomel Bites

Company also wins a SOFI award
Boulder-based JJ’s Sweets, makers of mindfully crafted sweets and the Original Coconut Milk Caramels, launched a new product, Cocomel Bites. Cocomel Bites are a new Non-GMO, Gluten-free, USDA Certified Organic, made-without-dairy candy item that will hit store shelves in the coming months. JJ’s Sweets has also won the SOFI New Product Award in the Specialty Food Association’s 2017 SOFI Awards competition for its new Cocomel Bites. JJ's started at the Boulder Farmer's Market and is now a nationally recognized candy company.

Start up launches on Amazon this Summer
Boulder-based Farm & Oven Snacks launched new bakery bites that contain 40% of your daily Vegetable needs. The four flavors are snack-sized pieces of familiar breakfast baked goods:Pumpkin Maple Pecan bread, Carrot Raisin, Zucchini Lemon Poppy Seed muffin, and Beet Dark Chocolate brownie with each pack containing 2 servings of vegetable as well as a daily dose of probiotics. Farm & Oven is actively seeking support in a crowd funding campaign as products will launch on Amazon later this summer.

Boulder Clean Named a 2017 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Safer Choice Partner of the Year 
Company receives award second year in a row

Boulder-based Boulder Clean was named a 2017 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award Winner for its outstanding achievement in the design and manufacturing of Boulder Clean natural dish, laundry and surface cleaning products that are safer for families, workplaces, communities and the environment. Boulder Clean is among the Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners announced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for this year.  This is the second consecutive year Boulder Clean has been named an EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year.

Empact Bar Aims to Appeal to and Empower the Female Demographic

Protein bar company is women-focused and mission-driven
Boulder-based Empact Bar was created six months ago by two married former lawyers turned fitness video and healthy snack creators, Melonie and Zeke DeRose. The women-focused and mission-driven protein bar company wants to not only fuel women throughout their day with nutrient-dense food, but also to empower women.   The gluten-free bar is currently sold in over 300 stores, including Texas-based retailer H-E-B and Kroger; and the company expects the bars to be on shelves in 700 stores by the end of the year.

Snowrise Launches App to Track Retail Presence, All In One Spot

iPhone app first in series of Store Intelligence solutions
Boulder-based Snowrise has developed an iPhone app designed to capture and view product data all in one spot, making it easier to track where your company's products are located, what has changed since your last visit, and where to target sales activities.  Android and team solutions are currently being developed.

Implementation of the Sugar Sweetened Beverage Tax
