SPINS Acquires FoodFacts Inc.

Aquisition to accelerate SPINS' mission of increasing the presence and accessibility of better-for-consumer products
Chicago-based SPINS acquired FoodFacts Inc., the leading consumer awareness platform for transparency into nutrition data, ingredients, allergens, and sensitivities. SPINS will now be able to add FoodFacts' data dictionary, algorithms for coding complex intolerances, and robust product health scoring, as well as its consumer profiles, recommendation engines, and patents into its already strong portfolio. 

Danone North America Celebrates First Anniversary with Two Major Milestones

Company achieves certification as largest B Corp in the World and unveils a new name
Broomfield-based Danone North America, previously DanoneWave, celebrated its first birthday by unveiling a new name and achieving certification as the largest B Corporation in the World.  In addition to becoming a Certified B Corporation, the world's largest, Danone North America continues to make progress towards its purpose of nourishing people, communities, and the world.

Justin’s Releases New Line of Almond and Cashew Butters

Products will soon hit store shelves
Boulder-based Justin’s announced three new products to its nutty family. The new line of natural no-stir spreads includes Classic Cashew Butter, Maple Cashew Butter, and Cinnamon Almond Butter. Justin’s new spreads are all Non-GMO Project Verified, Certified Gluten-Free, made without additives, artificial flavoring or preservatives, while also being made with Orangutan-Friendly Palm Oil.

Goddess Garden Launches Award-Winning Clean, Essential-Oil Roll-On Perfumes

Company also launches wearable aromatherapy accessories
Boulder-based Goddess Garden Organics announced that their new line of Essential-Oil Roll-On Perfumes has been awarded the prestigious 2018 Delicious Living magazine Beauty & Body Award. The company also introduced wearable aromatherapy accessories. The new Aromatherapy Bracelets and Bracelet Blends use the benefits of essential oils in combination with energetic stones to help wearers find their own desired state of mind.

Eurofins Opens Microbiology Lab in Colorado

New lab services food products at all stages of production
Longmont-based Eurofins Microbiology is now serving Colorado's community of quality natural foods with a new location in Lafayette.  The new laboratory employs the latest testing technologies to rapidly quantify and detect pathogenic, spoilage and probiotic microorganisms. Local scientists at the lab are even able to help customers resolve compliance, FDA/USDA detention, and contamination issues. The new facility serves as the Rocky Mountain region portal to Eurofins’ international network of food safety services.

The Food Corridor Announces the Shared Kitchen Toolkit

Tool delivers guidance on feasibility and planning for kitchen projects
Fort Collins-based The Food Corridor co-created a new tool, The Shared Kitchen Toolkit: A Practical Guide to Planning, Launching and Managing a Shared-Use Commercial Kitchen. The Toolkit is a free web-based resource that delivers guidance on feasibility and planning for new kitchen projects, as well as management practices for the day-to-day operations of shared-use kitchens. It also provides an overview of emerging kitchen models and highlights opportunities for kitchens to expand their community impact and enhance financial sustainability. 

Makeena Partners with Rodale Institute to Bring Discounts to Organic Products

Partnership helps natural brands and consumers while strengthening the organic mission
Boulder-based Makeena, the smartphone app which helps mission-driven brands and shoppers discover and engage with each other, announced a partnership with Rodale Institute, one of the oldest and most respected voices in the organic industry. The partnership aims to bring discounts on organic and natural products to Rodale Institute’s health-minded consumers while strengthening the category. The partnership between a non-profit with a long history in organic advocacy and a newer smartphone app for consumers is unique, but both organizations see synergy in their mission: making organic food more accessible and affordable for more people.

Teatulia Joins Forces with Upslope Brewing to Launch Black Tea Shandy

Limited release beer inspired by the “Arnold Palmer”
Denver-based Teatulia partnered with Boulder-based Upslope Brewing to launch the limited release, Black Tea Shandy. Inspired by the lemon and tea flavors of the classic “Arnold Palmer,” this beer is brewed with fresh-squeezed lemon juice, lemon zest and Teatulia organic Black Tea. The new product is available at Upslope Tap Rooms and select other locations.

FlapJacked Brings Mighty Muffins to Walmart’s Baking Aisle

Company provides alternative to sugary options
Westminster-based FlapJacked has brought its Mighty Muffins to the conventional baking aisle of 2,500 Walmart locations nationwide.  The muffins were previously stocked in about 1,600 Walmart stores in the sports nutrition section, but the product was recently moved to a higher traffic area of the store with more SKUs. 

Coconut Cloud Adds to Line of Dairy Free Coffee Creamers

Company also expands distribution
Denver-based Coconut Cloud announced a new addition to their collection of powdered dairy-free, coconut milk coffee creamers: vanilla single-serve stick packs. The company expanded distribution in Q1 by launching in over 1,100 Publix supermarkets.

Rooster & Lark Expands to New Markets
“Just Add Eggs” breakfast skillets now available in three new regions of Whole Foods

Denver-based Rooster & Lark expanded their breakfast skillets to three new regions of Whole Foods Markets. All items are now available in the Southwest, Northern California, and Pacific Northwest regions in addition to full distribution in the Rocky Mountain region. 

Blue Moose Of Boulder Releases Two New Flavors

Company adds Organic Lemon Turmeric and Beet Balsamic Hummus
Boulder-based Blue Moose of Boulder launched two new flavors in their Organic Hummus line: Lemon Turmeric and Beet Balsamic. As with all products in Blue Moose's hummus portfolio, the new flavors are USDA Organic Certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, Certified Gluten-Free, vegan and contain no preservatives. The new varieties will hit shelves nationally this month.

Teton Waters Ranch Names Michael Murray CEO

CPG veteran to lead next phase of growth
Denver-based Teton Waters Ranch has named Mike Murray as CEO. Murray will be responsible for leading the company through the next phase of growth.  Murray was most recently CEO of the allergy-friendly snack brand, free2b Foods. Previously, Murray led So Delicious Dairy Free and spent 10 years with General Mills.

Meyer Natural Foods Partners with Fitness Advocate Jen Widerstrom

Widerstrom will serve as a brand ambassador
Loveland-based Meyer Natural Foods is partnering with fitness and wellness advocate, Jen Widerstrom, to promote the company’s flagship brand, Laura’s Lean. Widerstrom, best known for her role as a trainer on the NBC television series, “The Biggest Loser," will serve as brand ambassador and create recipes featuring Laura’s Lean products.

Boulder Small Business Development Center Named Nation's Best

Naturally Boulder congratulates the entire Boulder SBDC team!
The Boulder Small Business Development Center is the best organization of its kind in the country, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.  There are 14 small business development centers in Colorado and about 1,000 across the country.  Over the past two years, the Boulder center has provided one-on-one business consulting to 1,100 businesses that have created and retained more than 850 jobs, infused more than $15 million of capital and reported sales increases of $10 million and contract awards more than $11 million, according to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
