15th Annual Pitch Slam & Autumn Awards
Applications are LIVE for Innovation Showcase and Pitch Slam

Naturally Boulder's 15th annual Pitch Slam & Autumn Awards is October 24-25! Applications are open for the Innovation Showcase, which will feature the newest products from nearly 100 member companies. Applications are also open for the Pitch Slam competition, where fifteen entrepreneurs will take to the stage to pitch their young businesses to a panel of industry experts and over 700 attendees. ONE Brands Acquired by Hershey
$397 million deal expands Hershey’s nutrition bar portfolio

Boulder-based ONE Brands was acquired by The Hershey Company for $397 million to increase Hershey’s competitive offering of nutrition bars. Hershey reported that the acquisition was a “strong strategic fit” given ONE Brands’ indulgent flavor portfolio and is part of the company’s plan to broaden its health-conscious snack offerings.

RE Botanicals Merges with Palmetto Harmony
Companies unify to accelerate shared mission

Boulder-based RE Botanicals merged with South Carolina-based Palmetto Harmony to increase and diversify offerings of USDA certified-organic hemp CBD and to accelerate regenerative hemp farming. The company’s immediate plans are to grow Palmetto Harmony’s woman-centric brand offerings, ensure RE Botanicals price competitiveness and provide further transparency into the growing and manufacturing of its products.

Charlotte’s Web Secures New Production Facility

Company moves into 137,000 square foot space
Boulder-based Charlotte’s Web Holdings, Inc. announced its expansion into a nearly 137,000-square-foot office space at the Colorado Technology Center business park in Louisville, CO. The new space will enable the company to increase production, warehousing, and distribution, and to implement the latest extraction and post-processing refinement technologies to differentiate end-products.

The a2 Milk Company Announces Record Revenue

Company achieves U.S. net sales of $23.2 million
The a2 Milk Company, which has its North American headquarters in Boulder, announced record NZ and US sales at the close of the company’s 2019 fiscal year,
with a total revenue of $1.3 billion (NZ$) and $23.2 million (US$). The company credited the 160 percent rise in sales from 2018 to increased investment in distribution and brand awareness. The company also achieved national distribution this year, expanding to over 13,100 stores including Costco, Walmart, Albertsons/Safeway, Whole Foods, Wegmans and more.


Hope Foods Offers New Nut Dips

Cashew and almond dips soon available
Boulder-based Hope Foods diversified its plant-based dip offerings from hummus and guacamole dips to cashew and almond dips. The high pressure processed nut dips have an 84-day shelf life and are available in flavors French Onion, Avocado Ranch, Roasted Garlic, Roasted Red Pepper, Chipotle, and Chocolate. The company plans to launch in 4,300 stores by the end of 2019, beginning with Hannaford and Sprouts locations.  

MindFull Inc. Unveils Hemp Protein Shake

DOSE beverage to debut at Expo East
Boulder-based MindFull Inc. announced its launch of DOSE Daily Hemp Nutrition organic shakes at Expo East this month. The ready-to-drink shakes are gluten-, dairy- and soy-free and contain no added sugar, 15 grams of hemp- and pea-based protein, six grams of fat from hemp seed oil, 18 vitamins and minerals and 150 calories per serving. Two flavors -- Chocolate Truffle and Spiced Vanilla -- will soon be available.

RollinGreens Diversifies Product Offerings

Cauliflower wings now available in three flavors
Boulder-based RollinGreens expanded its product offerings from whole grain millet tot varieties to Cauliflower Wings. The gluten-free, vegan, allergen-friendly frozen products are available in flavors Spicy Green Buffalo, Teriyaki, and Sweet Mustard. Cauliflower Wings will expand nationally in 2020, but are now regionally available in Lucky’s Market and Whole Foods. 

Colorado Hemp Honey Launches CBD Sweets

Hemp-blended honey sticks debut at Expos
Parker-based Colorado Hemp Honey announced the launch of hemp-blended honey sticks, plus a line of honeys and tinctures, at Southern Hemp Expo in Franklin, TN and Expo East in Baltimore, MD. The honey sticks contain 30 milligrams of full-spectrum hemp extract that is non-GMO, Colorado-grown, and third-party lab tested and verified.

Fourpoints Expands Distribution
Company’s bars now available across Colorado King Soopers

Denver-based Fourpoints announced new availability of its energy bars across Colorado King Soopers and City Markets. The low-glycemic bars are the only to market using California prunes as a main ingredient, which enables the bars to contain macro-, micro- and phyto-nutrients claimed to support delayed hunger and stable energy throughout exercise. The company also announced its plan to switch from whey protein to locally sourced hemp seed protein by the end of 2019.

Nummy Nibbles Increases Availability
Condiments now available at Whole Foods

Denver-based Nummy Nibbles expanded its distribution of condiments and cooking sauces to Whole Foods stores in the Rocky Mountain region. All of their products are certified vegan, dairy- and soy-free and the cooking sauces are Whole30® approved.

MindFull, Inc. Achieves B-Corp Certification
Company passes social and environmental performance reviews

Boulder-based MindFull, Inc. obtained B Corporation certification after rigorous social and environmental performance reviews. The company’s current brands include GAIAM Organic Green Tea and VIBE Organic
Electrolyte Black Tea.

Evo Hemp Stars in Hemp Documentary
Film chronicles Colorado hemp industry

Boulder-based Evo Hemp stars in "American Hemp," a film that documents the Colorado hemp industry for 2 years leading up to the 2018 federal Farm Bill legalizing hemp. Farmers, Colorado regulators, members of the Lakota Native American Tribe and founders of Evo Hemp shed light on how hemp has affected their lives and how it will revolutionize the U.S. agricultural economy.

Ka-Pop! Announces New CMO
Former Danone VP of Marketing joins team

Erie-based Ka-Pop! Ancient inGRAINed Snack Co welcomed Christina Finkel, former VP of Marketing at Danone and wife of Ka-Pop! Founder, Dustin Finkel, to the position of Chief Marketing Officer. Finkel previously accelerated brands at various stages of growth with General Mills, Unilever, WhiteWave Foods and Danone.

Espirit Venture Challenge Applications Close Soon

Applications are open for Boulder Chamber's Esprit Venture Challenge until September 13. The pitch competition is open to companies 3 years old or younger; community members vote in person or online to determine which company will receive the grand prize of $10,000. The selected finalists will compete in a final-round pitch competition at the Boulder Chamber's signature Esprit Entrepreneur event on November 14th at Embassy Suites in Boulder.

CanopyBoulder Applications Open

CanopyBoulder is accepting applications from hemp/CBD startups for their 13-week, Boulder-based accelerator program. Get up to $120k in funding, access to the networks and support from seasoned industry experts. Applications are open until October 25 and class starts January 13. Go to for more info.

Gluten-Free Kitchen Space Available

New Beat Foods is seeking a gluten-free food company to share a commercial kitchen space. (It is not a commissary kitchen.) The Longmont-based facility is ~2,400 SF, has a separate shipping and receiving area and shared use of conference room. Utilities and Wi-Fi included. Space includes a Revent, single, rotating rack oven, multiple stainless steel tables and 60 quart Hobart Mixer. Incoming tenant is responsible for all licensing requirements, insurance, etc. Incoming tenant is also responsible for any additional equipment needed to craft product. The space is available on Fridays and Saturdays. Rent is $500 - $1,500, depending on use. Three month minimum lease; month-to-month thereafter. Please email if you are interested. 

United Natural Products Alliance PCQI Training

September 4-6, 2019 training in Westminster
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires food, supplement and hemp companies to have a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) in each of their facilities to establish, implement and manage the required, written hazard analysis and food safety plans for all food products and ingredients. This United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) PCQI training is 2.5 days long and satisfies this requirement.
