Announcing the Launch of Naturally Bay Area 

Naturally Boulder expands its conscious entrepreneurship, education and networking model to the Bay Area
With a mission to nurture conscious growth, leadership and innovation in the natural products community, Naturally Boulder is now branching out to the Bay Area.  Working with a team of Northern California business leaders in the food and natural products sectors, Naturally Bay Area is launching as the first regional affiliate partner of the Naturally Boulder network. Naturally Bay Area will connect entrepreneurs, investors and innovators in the food and natural products community in Northern California with a goal of replicating the success of Naturally Boulder in supporting local food and natural products businesses.  Membership in Naturally Bay Area and Naturally Boulder will include a number of shared benefits, including a member directory, job board, shared content and resources, discounts to events and other benefits. Naturally Bay Area, launching its website soon, will hold a kick-off party in conjunction with the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on January 21, 5–7 PM, at International Smoke. Today’s volatile and uncertain world needs leaders who are grounded, engaged, ethical and effective. Especially in organizations that strive to live their values, there is no substitute for conscious and authentic leaders who can “walk their talk.” However, this is easier said than done. Most of us need training, support, and ongoing development to continue to deepen and expand our self-awareness and effectiveness as leaders.  Naturally Boulder, in collaboration with the Authentic Leadership Center at Naropa University, is looking to create a customized program for leaders in the natural products industry to enhance these crucial skills.  

Bobo's Oat Bars Caps Record Revenue Year 

Bobo's continues expansion across U.S. 
Boulder-based Bobo's Oat Bars celebrated a record-setting 2017. Revenue grew 65 percent last year, driven by increased sales and new products in the core markets of Colorado, Texas, California and the Pacific Northwest. The company plans on continuing its expansion into the Midwest and Northeast in 2018.

OMG Chia, Doing Business as Chia Viva, Raises Over $500,000 in Capital

Superfood pudding available is six flavors
Boulder-based OMG Chia LLC, which does business as Chia Viva, raised more than $500,000 in capital. Chia Viva pudding, made with coconut milk, chia seeds, and other all-natural ingredients, comes in six flavors: Chocolate Banana, Cinnamon Coconut, Mocha Latte, Sea Salt Chocolate, Toasted Coconut, and Madagascar Vanilla Bean.

PixieStix Bakery, Doing Business as Lillabee, Raises $225,000 for New Snack Line

Company expands distribution through Whole Foods and Amazon
Boulder-based PixieStix Bakery, which does business as Lillabee, raised about $225,000 for a new line of paleo-certified snacks. The snack line, which is starting with grain-free, paleo-certified cookies, will be available in the first quarter of 2018. The company has plans to expand into other snacks over the next two years. Lillabee’s snacks are available exclusively at Whole Foods and Amazon.

RollinGreens Receives a Whole Foods Local Producer Loan

Loan will increase expansion nationally
Boulder-based RollinGreens received a loan from Whole Foods to help the company rapidly expand throughout the nation. The Whole Foods Local Producer Loan Program offers low-interest to help local producers flourish.  RollinGreens produces Millet Tots, the company's version of a tater tot made with an organic ancient whole grain, in three varieties: Original, Spicy-Sweet & Italian Herb.

Good Karma Launches Ready-to-Drink Shelf-Stable Plant-Based Beverages

New line delivers a nutritional bundle of protein and healthy fats
Boulder-based Good Karma Foods announced the launch of new nutrient-packed, low-sugar Flaxmilk Omega-3 + Protein plant-based beverages in shelf-stable ready-to-drink formats. The new line delivers a nutritional bundle of 7-10g plant-based protein; 1,100-1,500 omega-3 healthy fats; and up to half the sugar of dairy-based offerings, per serving. The new line will be available for purchase direct-to-consumer in February 2018 on Amazon.

Good Day Chocolate Launches Probiotic Supplement

New product boasts 8 billion CFUs (colony forming units) of healthy bacteria per box
Boulder-based Good Day Chocolate announced the launch of its dark chocolate probiotic supplement. Using Lactospore, a heavily researched shelf-stable Bacillus coagulans, these new “chocolate with benefits” help promote digestive health. The new product features eight pieces of Fair-Trade dark chocolate and boasts 8 billion CFUs of healthy bacteria per box.

Pop Zest Launches Nutritional Yeast Popcorn Seasonings

Company looks to increase distribution in 2018
Boulder-based Pop Zest launched a line of nutritional yeast popcorn seasoning. Pop Zest is certified vegan, in the process of becoming non-GMO verified, and uses nutritional yeast as the first ingredient followed by real herbs and spices. The company recently signed a contract with LoCo Food Distribution expanding their reach across larger natural channels while focusing on the Colorado market throughout 2018.

Cusa Tea Expands Nationally With REI

Organic instant tea brand also gains two UNFI distribution centers
Boulder-based Cusa Tea is experiencing rap growth since launching in May 2017. The organic instant tea brand expanded to over 350 retail locations in the Natural Grocery, Conventional Grocery, and Outdoor Industries since its launch. In Q1 of 2018, the brand will expand nationwide with REI as well as gain placement in two UNFI distribution centers in Colorado and Northern California.

Enerhealth Increases Distribution to Lucky’s Market

Lucky’s among the first brick and mortar retailer to offer EnerHealth
Longmont-based EnerHealth announced the expansion of its food and herbal tincture products into two Colorado Lucky’s Market locations, in Longmont and South Boulder. Lucky’s is among the first brick and mortar retailers to offer EnerHealth’s functional food products on its store shelves, carrying EnerHealth’s Hemp Hearts, Coconut Milk Powder, and Herbal Tinctures.

Rooster & Lark Expands to East Coast with Wakefern Food Corp

Products now on shelves in Shoprite and The Fresh Grocer locations
Denver-based Rooster & Lark has gained a new retail partnership with Wakefern Food Corporation. The company’s Southwest, Rocky Mountain, and Greek Skillets will be available in Shoprite and The Fresh Grocer stores across the Northeastern region. 

New Resource Bank and Amalgamated Bank Sign Merger Agreement

Merger creates platform for nationwide, values-based financial institution
New Resource Bank, with a presence in San Francisco and Boulder, and Amalgamated Bank signed a definitive merger agreement. The combined bank will create the largest values-based bank in the U.S. Together, Amalgamated and New Resource, both certified B Corps and Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) banks, are scaling sustainable banking across the nation to confront the serious climate and social inequities of our time and restore the financial system to its proper role in support of people and the planet.
