Naturally Boulder Is Measuring Colorado's Natural & Organic Industry

Naturally Boulder has partnered with the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder to quantify how much this industry impacts our state’s economy.   Don't be left out! 

We will include as many natural and organic companies as possible.  Your company is invited to take part in this important survey of companies that offer natural and organic products and/or services. This survey will quantify the economic benefits and demographic characteristics of this industry.  You may preview the questions.

Be assured individual survey results will remain confidential. The study results will be available to you in a Naturally Boulder report this fall.  Thank you!

Spring Fling Registration is Live

Celebrate the industry's "Roots & Shoots"
Naturally Boulder's 15th annual Spring Fling is the primo party for the natural and organic industry.  Though the Boulder area is where the industry took root – as groovy visionaries picked herbs for tea and made tofu from soy – we’re not stuck in the past, man.  Spring Fling is about celebrating the roots and the shoots!

Aurora Organic Dairy Opens New Milk Plant

Facility enables company to enter aseptic processing market and expand product variety
Boulder-based Aurora Organic Dairy opened a 127,000 sq. ft. milk production and storage facility in Columbia, MO in mid-April. The new plant’s aseptic milk bottling technology enables the company to deliver
shelf-stable products. 


Motherlode Provisions Acquires New Facility

50,000 sq. ft. facility expands operations and offers
co-packing services
Hudson-based Motherlode Provisions acquired a new facility to put administration, label production, new product formulation, storage, and food production under one roof. The company is also offering co-packing, storage, and labeling services to several smaller tenants.

JBS Global Food Innovation Center Opens at CSU

$20M facility is an investment in the future of CO livestock
and farming
Fort Collins-based Colorado State University (CSU) and JBS, a leading processor of beef, pork and prepared foods in the U.S. and Canada, opened a new facility to support research, education and business collaboration for livestock and meatpacking innovation. 

Green Belly Foods Funded by Colorado
Enterprise Fund 

Steady sales positions the company for growth
Boulder-based Green Belly Foods received a loan from the Colorado Enterprise Fund's Healthy Food Program in April. The new capital will be used to further expand the company's consistent sales growth. 

Spinster Sisters Debuts CBD-infused Skin Care Line

Product varieties accommodate growing demand for CBD goods
Golden-based Spinster Sisters Inc. expanded its line of natural skin care to include products with broad-spectrum hemp extract. The CBD is non-GMO, pesticide-free and regionally sourced in reflection of the company’s mission and values.

RollinGreens Lands Millet Tots on Super Target Shelves Nationwide

Company responds to demand for organic ancient grain tots
Boulder-based RollinGreens expanded its distribution of Millet Tots into Super Targets nationwide last month. Millet Tots are the only vegan, allergen friendly, non-potato whole grain tot on the market. The company also plans to launch frozen products made from hemp and cauliflower this July.

Basis Now Available in Colorado Natural Grocers

Electrolyte beverage increases local distribution
Denver-based Basis expanded its distribution into Colorado Natural Grocers. The functional, low-sugar electrolyte drink contains 954 mg of electrolytes, 4 g of cane sugar and comes in Blackberry Lemon, Grapefruit Melon, and Cran-Raspberry.

Microtea Expands Distribution with Alfalfa’s Market

Three flavors of microgreens teas available now
Boulder-based Microtea expanded its distribution to include Alfalfa’s Market locations. All three flavors - Cozy Chamomile, Morning Microboost and Turmeric Tonic - include over one thousand broccoli and kale microgreens.

Mighty Fudge Studios Wins Big at 2019 Indigo Awards

Company takes home five digital design awards
Boulder-based Mighty Fudge Studios received five awards at the Indigo Award competition, where industry professionals selected design innovations from over 50 countries. The company claimed five bronze level awards, including an award for computer animation. The Studios’ print division, The Brand Chefs, took home four awards in the packaging design category. 

Danone North America Announces Sustainable
Food Systems Grant Program

One Planet. One Health. initiative awards up to $90,000 in grants 
Broomfield-based Danone North America opened applications for a new grant program that stems from the non-profit’s One Planet. One Health. initiative. The grant program provides seed funding for projects that foster transdisciplinary, community-based work to promote sustainable food systems. Four select teams will attend a four-day training in Boulder before implementing their projects.

Alyssa Harding Recognized as a Top 100 Environmental Leader

Harding will be recognized at ELEM Conference
Alyssa Harding, CESR and External Relations manager at Justin’s and a Naturally Boulder board member, was recognized as one of the top 100 leaders driving sustainability initiatives at their companies as defined by Environment & Energy Manager, a brand of Fort Collins-based Business Sector Media. Harding was selected for her work on sustainable packaging with Justin’s and Naturally Boulder to generate impact programs within the CPG industry.

Charlotte’s Web Announces New CEO

Former executive leader at Kellogg’s to join team
Boulder-based Charlotte’s Web announced that Adrienne Elsner, former president of Kellogg’s $3B Snack Business Unit, will join the company as CEO in mid-May. Before her role at Kellogg, Elsner spent twenty years in various leadership roles at Kraft Foods.

The Nourished Group to Host Gluten Free College Foodservice Conference

Event connects gluten-free providers to university foodservice
Illinois-based The Nourished Group, a Naturally Boulder sponsor, opened applications for exhibitors, sponsors and presenters at College Foodservice Conferences in Atlanta, GA on May 18 and Worcester, MA on July 20. The conferences are in response to the government mandate that all universities offer gluten-free dining options and provide participants with the opportunity to have their products in front of university foodservice managers, nutritionists, and chefs.
