Naturally Boulder is proud to add Ben Fenton to its Board of Directors.  Ben is currently Vice President at Boulder-based BFG Partners, a food and beverage focused venture capital firm.  Prior to moving to Boulder in March 2014, Ben spent nearly 10 years living in New York City where he worked for UBS, Morgan Stanley, Oak Hill Advisors and Hutchin Hill Capital.

Chewy fruit and veggie-strip maker introduces Veggie Go’s Bites
Boulder-based Veggie Go’s announced a rebranding with new packaging, new products and a redesigned website. The rebrand comes less than a year after Samantha Brands became a majority owner of the company last September. To accompany its new look, Veggie Go’s added a new product to its portfolio: Veggie Go’s Bites. The pouches contain chopped fruit strips mixed with cocoa nibs, rice crisps, and chia.

Canyon Bakehouse Rounds Out Gluten-Free Portfolio With New Bagels

Bagels roll into retailers nationwide this month
Loveland-based Canyon Bakehouse launched two new bagel flavors which doubles its bagel offerings. Blueberry and Cinnamon Raisin join popular Everything and Plain bagels to round out the portfolio. Like all Canyon Bakehouse baked goods, the new bagels are made with whole grains, Certified Gluten-Free, Kosher, and are free from dairy, soy, nuts, casein, and sesame. They are also GMO-free and free from artificial colors, sweeteners, and preservatives.  The new bagels roll into retailers nationwide this month.

Buns hit retail shelves soon
Denver-based The Gluten Free Explorer will unveil its new hot dog bun at Denver’s Incredible, Edible Gluten-Free Food Fair on August 20.  The new buns are currently available at Mustard’s Last Stand in Boulder and Denver, as well as Steve's Snappin’ Dogs in Denver.  The buns will soon be available at Lucky’s Market, Alfalfa’s Market, Natural Grocers, and Amazon Fresh.

Company launches Organic Nut Butter Filled Figgy Pops
Boulder-based Made in Nature is expanding its production and distribution. The organic dried fruit and snacks company will be distributed in Walmarts nationwide. The company's products can also be found in Whole Foods, Costco, Safeway and King Soopers stores throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Made in Nature is also adding a new product to its lineup: Organic Nut Butter Filled Figgy Pops.

"Look Out Here I Come" Garlic Olive Oil Available at Alfalfa’s Market

Company soon featured on local television
Boulder-based Look Out Here I Come is now available on the shelves at both Alfalfa's Markets. The company's olive oil brings together flavors of buttery Spanish extra virgin olive oil, garlic, jalapeño peppers and habanero peppers. The company will be featured in a televised segment on KDVR (Fox) called, "Unique 2 Colorado Products on Daybreak,” which highlights Colorado companies.  The segment airs live at 8:45 AM on August 16.

Company grows into five new KeHE distribution centers
Denver-based Yai’s Thai has partnered with Sprouts Farmers Market to launch its new line of Thai Coconut Curry Sauces in stores.  Yai’s Thai unveiled its Green, Yellow, and Red Thai Coconut Curries at Expo West 2017. The new line adds to the brand’s portfolio of non-gmo, paleo, and Whole30 approved Thai products.  This launch also brings the company into five new KeHE distribution centers, allowing Yai’s Thai to continue to expand its independent business into new regions.

Vodka 14 Now Produced in New Boulder Micro-Distillery and Tasting Room
Altitude Spirits rebrands its flagship product, Vodka 14

Boulder-based Altitude Spirits, makers of Vodka 14, recently opened a sampling space and a production space under the same roof in Boulder.  As Vodka 14 grew in popularity over the past decade, instead of ramping up batch size, the company made an unconventional decision to keep batch size small, distilling with USDA organic ingredients and bottling by hand in the new Boulder micro-distillery and tasting room. Altitude Spirits also recently redesigned the bottles for Vodka 14

Canyon Bakehouse Buys Manufacturing Building in Johnstown
Space grows from 20,000-square-feet to 165,625-square-feet

Loveland-based Canyon Bakehouse acquired a 165,625-square-foot industrial building in Johnstown, where it plans to consolidate several of its locations presently operating in Loveland. The company is currently operating at full capacity in a 20,000-square-foot space in Loveland and needs more room to expand to meet the demand for its products. The new space will add automation equipment and expand from one production line to two production lines.

UNPA Offers PCQI Training

August 16-18 

Preventive Controls for Human Foods is one of seven provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), the most sweeping reform of the U.S.’s food safety laws in more than 70 years. Within that provision, a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) is required for all companies that manufacture foods and dietary supplements, outside of a few exemptions. The compliance date for companies with less than 500 employees is September 2017. In response, the United Natural Products Alliance is offering a 2.5-day PCQI training course in Boulder Aug. 16-18 that fulfills the requirement for training.
