GLES SWIM PROGRAM
While swim lessons used to be a city-wide program, over the years more and more Seattle public schools have cancelled them. As it stands, Green Lake is the last school to continue to offer this invaluable, free service to every K-3 student.

Water safety is critical

The statistics around water safety are staggering, and many kids never have the opportunity to learn basic water safety. Skills like getting out of a pool and floating on your back are just two simple skills kids are introduced to in a low pressure, friendly, fun and safe environment.

Why we need you!

Parent volunteers are the only reason this incredible program is still available, and as always, there are a variety of ways to get involved. Just this week, four parents went through the training to become certified lifeguards, ensuring this program can continue for the year. Aside from certified lifeguards and instructors, parents are encouraged to participate in the pool on swim days to lend a hand, and assist with walking transportation to and from Evans pool.
BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY

Our partner school Rising Star recently treated our crew to a great meal  - what a way to get to know one another better, outside a formal setting. Did you know: our schools share drama resources and space? When we needed a place to store ALL the many costumes and props used for our plays, Rising Star stepped up and helped us out. In exchange, they are able to expand their costume and prop inventory for their productions. A real win-win!!
