HOLIDAY TREE SALE: A TRADITION
The Green Lake tree sale has been a longstanding community tradition dating back to 1985. Last year, nearly $35,000 dollars were raised for our school, providing continued funding for programs like swimming and enrichment assemblies.

A Link to the Community
High schoolers, alumni, grandparents, and of course, many of our wonderful Green Lake families, all volunteer to make this event a success.

Powered By You
The tree sale is run by 20-25 tree leads who organize everything, with another 180 volunteer slots open during a range of days and times, making it the perfect opportunity for volunteers who are unable to participate during school hours.

Giving Back
Volunteering for the tree sale is also an opportunity to participate in a program that is giving back to the community in real time. In a program directed by our school counselor, a number of trees are donated each year to local families.

Whether it’s one person, or a full family affair, everyone is welcome down on the tree lot while we try to surpass last year’s totals, and fill even more Green Lake homes and businesses with beautiful, PNW trees. Join us by signing up for a spot or two (or more!) here

BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY

This month we had the pleasure of welcoming several North End schools to attend our Courageous Cross-Cultural Conversations event!! Presenters, Delbert Richardson and Tilman Smith, were a welcomed breath of fresh air surrounding the on-going struggles of open and centered conversations in relation to race and communication norms. Click here to get an example of what we discussed and practiced: Norms for Courageous Conversations.

Nearly $25,000 of our PTA funds go to ensuring all GLES students are able to participate in vocal music and have exposure to the arts. Studies have shown many benefits of music in education, including: improved language skills & test scores, higher self-esteem, better listening & math skills, stress relief, nurturing creativity & higher graduation rates.
