Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

The 33rd Annual GLES Tree Sale - Fri., 11/23 - when the trees run out! (mid - Dec.)

Green Lake Elementary's 2nd largest fundraiser is powered by YOU, our wonderful families. It's a great opportunity to meet other
GLES families & members of the community, while raising funds to support many programs within our school.

We ask that each family, if possible, sign up for a shift (or 2, or 4!). Your Room Parent will be your point person in making sure your class has the opportunity to sign-up. If families from each class sign-up for 9-10 shifts, we will have the entire schedule covered! All kids, friends, and family are welcome to chip in on shifts!

  Sign-up here.

 Shifts Tasks include:
- running sales
- keeping refreshment table neat and stocked (hot choco & candy canes)
- assisting in tree trunk trimming & loading onto customer cars (bring work gloves if you have them! Saws are available on lot)
- unwrapping trees and stocking racks
- hanging wreaths
- general lot tidying

Shift Fun includes:
- hanging out with friends, new or known!
- kids welcome - they love to help with passing out price cards and candy canes!
- being in the elements - tent available but dress for the weather!
- getting into the holiday spirit and doing good for the school!

Ever wonder how you can get even more involved with the Tree Sale?

The Tree People, the great group of volunteers who manage the Sale behind the scene, are always looking for new faces to join the group.

This are the core group that manage each shift plus:
- set up the lot
- take deliveries of the trees, sort them by species & trim trees
- help load trees on cars on people's cars
- break down the lot, clean up and generally be awesome

If interested in becoming a Tree Person, please contact volunteers@greenlakedragons.org
for further details.

GLES Swim Program

CPR-certified (adult & pediatric) volunteers needed to help at the pool. Please let me know if you are / would like to be certified and can help from 8:30-9am 1 day a week. We will pick up the cost. Please contact Jessica Olson for more information

Also - we will need extra help both in the pool and locker rooms for the next swim session. 2nd graders will start the week of Nov 26th! Please work with your room parent / teacher if you are available to help, and be sure you've completed your volunteer paperwork!

Olallie Garden

The school garden is a great way to get involved and there are all sorts of ways you can help.  Over the winter we need help with:
  • Planning for spring planting
  • Planning to help teachers plant
  • Redesigning a garden bed
  • Making garden markers
Contact us if you can help. Remember to check out the garden rules.

To learn more about the garden, contact Heather Dohan & Sheri Skuja, co-garden coordinators, or visit the garden website.

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Please help show how much you appreciate the lovely staff at Green Lake by contributing to a holiday luncheon on Wednesday, December 12th in the staff room.  Sign up here to contribute a specific item(s). Thank you so much for helping to make it a success!

Auction Procurement

We are kicking off procuring items for our school's Auction fundraiser in March. We typically get donations from all kinds of local businesses, restaurants, tickets to sporting events or the theater, week at vacation homes, experiences, etc. If you have any contacts with businesses or items you'd like to donate, please reach out!

Find the online donation form here

We also have paper copies available at the school office. Email us with any questions!

Playground Project

The playground committee has selected SiteWorkshop as the firm to help develop the conceptual master plan for the playground. We are currently finalizing the agreement and then the FUN will begin! More information coming soon. In the meantime, if you have not already, please take 5 minutes to complete our informal survey here.

This is intended to help us gather an initial feel for what the community would like to see happen. More formal public meetings will take place in the upcoming weeks, for now, please help us by completing the survey!
