A joint collaboration of TERRE Policy Centre and Ecolibrium Energy
SCCN is a global network of the education campuses of colleges, institutes and universities committed to make a tangible contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), agreed by the countries in September 2015 at UN Sustainable Development Summit in New York to be achieved by 2030.
By 2030, when SDGs are said to be achieved, today’s students would be working in the market place as policy makers/managers/entrepreneurs/NGOs. smart campus also has an underlying theme of skill building for smart cities. Therefore, this project can also be considered as a driving force for tomorrows smart cities.
Chairman's message
Planetary Boundaries Show Limitations
But Not Campus Boundaries
"The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed by the United Nations General Assembly are bold and trail blazing tools of global transformation. 193 member countries of UN have unanimously agreed to build on legacy and lessons of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), whose tenure ended on 31 December 2015. Handing over the baton on 1st January 2016, the next lap of the run towards 2030 finishing line that signifies sustainable prosperity of people and planet is now already one year on.

One of the lessons of run towards MDGs was related to youth in educational campuses. The educational systems and campuses never oriented towards achieving 8 MDGs. It was overlooked that educational campus is the incubator for talents of youth, a foundry to mould the minds, a skill-building hub to prioritize the challenges and begin actions.

Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) puts educational campus in forefront to lead SDGs. The  youth coming out of that incubator would be in 30 years down the lane, a policy maker or entrepreneur or manager or teacher and above all a responsible citizen. SCCN leverages the potential of the youth in campus to contribute in achieving SDGs by inspiring the youth in campus by actually running the track. The gasping progress that SCCN has made (read this issue) goes on to prove that planetary boundaries show  limitations, but certainly not campus boundaries."

First Ever International Campus of SCCN
A leading university in Peru will be SCCN Hub in Latin America
Apart from 25 national universities, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) has become first international university to be part of the SCCN. The water shortage has become a major issue in Latin American countries during 2015-2016. Country like Bolivia has declared water shortage throughout their state. Dr Nicole Bernex, Professor at PUCP and expert on UN’s Global Water Partnership stated, “The short term and long term answer to devastating water shortage in Latin America is to start the action at the individual level as well as communities level, particularly in educational campuses. SCCN is important tool for water security.”
The university has now registered online to make their campus a part of SCCN and will be acting as a 'Latin American Hub of SCCN'.

Digital India & Digital Campus - SCCN at the Forefront
Users can access the real time data (energy, water, gas) on their computers and smart phones via platform
Development of these Smart Cities requires a focus on a wide variety of overarching issues like Resource Optimization including consumption of material and energy, smart mobility conservation of water, improved health by reducing air and water pollution, waste minimization, and E-governance, all of which can be done with IOT and Big Data.
SCCN would serve as a practical exercise for students to practice the digital technology in their day-to-day life, individually and professionally. Through digital tools students would learn hands-on about experience sharing, problem solving, monitoring, assessing economic opportunity and carrying out digital transactions aimed at cashless economy and transparent governance.
