Take a deeper dive into the Cool Block program, where neighbors gather block by block working to reduce carbon, conserve water, become disaster resilient, increase livability on their block, and empower others!
 The Empowerment Institute, founded in 1981 by David Gershon and Gail Straub, received funding for the second phase of the innovative Cool Block pilot program of the Cool City Challenge with plans to begin scaling up the program in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Palo Alto later this year. If you or your friends have environmentally concerned children who are 12 years old or younger in your life, here is an opportunity for them to express their fears, concerns and hopes for the future.  Denise Scotto, Esq., also on the Board of SOSF, is the Chair of the International Day of Yoga Committee at the United Nations. The Committee hosted a program on Yoga's Impact on Poverty Eradication, Sustainable Living and Social Inclusion at the U.N. as a side event during the 55th Session of the United Nations Commission on Social Development. The adoption of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution marks 21 June as the International Day of Yoga, with Member States recognizing the significance of yoga upon global health from a holistic perspective and the well-being of the integral being.

Hymn for Standing Rock
In response to the continued construction of the DAPL pipeline, and the ongoing challenges that our Native Sisters and Brothers are facing in North Dakota, fellow Evolutionary Leaders Panos Anastasakis (Link Media) and Kristin Hoffman have just released a new music video for Kristin's recent song "Hymn for Standing Rock." It is their hope that this video and song can be used as a powerful vehicle for awareness, connectivity, and healing support...serving as a catalyst to spark the unique skills and voices of others around this issue.
Special gratitude to documentary filmmaker Shannon Kring, whose upcoming film, “End of the Line: The Women of Standing Rock,” inspired the birth of “Hymn for Standing Rock.” Shannon gifted her beautiful and profound footage to create this new music video.
