In the era of alternative facts, rising hate crimes, environmental destruction, rollback on civil liberties and so much more, it is critical that we prepare our communities to take care of ourselves and to fight injustice.

East Point Peace Academy will be ramping up our offerings to the community in the months ahead. If we are going to create the level of changes we need to see in our society, then we need to invest in training ourselves to create that change.

Whether you are brand new to activism or a seasoned organizer looking for new angles, or if you are interested in becoming a trainer in Kingian Nonviolence, we will have offerings for you!

Join the thousands who have gone through our popular flagship training:

Your Money - with Help From Evolutionary Leaders

Lynne Twist with Jack Canfield Were Live on Facebook

Lynne Twist introduces the new edition of her groundbreaking book, The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life, now with a forward by Jack Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
"We’re caught in the rigidity of an old system that’s no longer appropriate. So I say the work is to, together, hospice the death of the old structures and systems that no longer serve us – they’re  unsustainable, which means they’re dying and they are falling apart – while we midwife the new structures and systems that are consistent with a sustainable, just, fulfilling, caring future we all want. And hospicing and midwifing are acts of witnessing and love. Things that are dying die faster when they’re on hospice and they die with respect. The structures and systems that no longer serve us, we need to respect them – they gave us everything we’ve got now, but they’re no longer appropriate – while we midwife new structures and systems that we see are now appropriate for the world we want."

Gayle S. Rose Receives Frances Wright Award

Gayle S. Rose was given the Frances Wright Inaugural Award on February 26, by New Sardis Baptist Church as a part of their Living Legends celebration.

This church, founded in 1874 by three ex-slaves, has documented history in the halls and walls, telling the story of struggle against oppression with resilience, courage, beauty and strength. The award was named for abolitionist pioneer Frances Wright, who founded a multiracial utopian community in Tennessee in 1825.

Gayle is deeply honored to have been recognized and to have celebrated the living African American legends among her Memphis community.

My Advice for These Times

By James O'Dea

· when everything tells you that you have no time, you give time to something more meaningful
· when you are told to do the sensible and conformist thing, you choose instead to do the thing that expresses your heart's desire
· when you are told you might be smacked down for speaking up, you find your voice
· when everything but your gut tells you that taking a certain course of action is a dead-end, you listen to your gut
· when you realize that the numbness of living so many half-truths is greater than the pain you may endure in trying to live your truth, you willingly face the pain
· when you realize that you must change, even if no one else is ready for change, you dare to lead
· when you to to dance in the ashes of your own despair, and it doesn't work, you learn that walking is just as beautiful

The Art of Bending Your Reality: How Tiny Shifts Can Have Huge Impacts

By Justin Faerman

Published on February 8, 2017 on Facebook

Most people think it’s the big decisions they have made over the years that have shaped their life into what it is today—where you went to school, who you married, what job you chose, attending that important training, finally launching your big dream project, deciding to leave corporate, traveling to foreign countries, etc.

But I would argue that in many ways it’s just the opposite—it’s all the thousands, if not tens of thousands of micro-decisions you make every day that you are totally unaware of that shape the course of your life and hence your reality most strongly.

Have you ever missed being in a major car accident by a few seconds? Or any kind of serious accident for that matter? Maybe you didn’t miss it and you were in the accident after all. Everyone has been on both sides of the coin. In most of those cases, if not all, making a few ultra-small, seemingly inconsequential choices could have prevented—or caused—the situation entirely.

For example, you could have chosen to spend an extra 5 seconds in bed before getting up that would have saved you from—or put you directly in the middle of—that accident. You could have chosen to stay in the night you decided to go out instead where you ended up meeting the person who would become your husband or wife. You could have chosen not to get a coffee that morning where you went into starbucks and synchronistically met an old friend who offered you a job or opportunity that changed the course of your life. You could have not been on facebook and missed that post that you saw recommending the book that you then read and unlocked massive growth in your business and altered your life forever.

You get the idea: seemingly inconsequential decisions we make ALL THE TIME can radically change the course of our lives. [Read the rest HERE. ]

Patience. This is something I've always had and I believe is one of the keys to achieving your visions. Along with hard work of course. I find people can be fickle these days. Jumping from one thing to the next, to the next, to the next without giving anything time to actually flourish. Instant gratification is what people often want and it's also what holds people back all at the same time. Collective Evolution didn't get to where it got too because I jumped from one thing, to the next, to the next and was impatient. It got here because we put in seven and a half years of patience and hard work.

So if every month or two months or three or even four you feel like jumping to and doing something totally new, stop for a moment feel it out, think about it and ask the questions: is there anything here I can still learn? Am I doing what I love? Can this temporary process I'm in get me closer to doing something that I ultimately love? Try to stop judging everything and instead just wake up to what's possible for you to learn and take from in each situation. Every single situation you're a part of you should be giving your all to. And you are part of for a reason.

I've stuck with the full effort motto my entire life in everything that I did and it has made a huge difference in not only my learning but my flexibility, creativity, and ability to create amazing things. I always say if you're not going to put in full effort, show up on something and give it your all, you're just going to hold yourself back and there's no point in even doing it other than to see that it's time to shift your ways.

Life is about fun and play and aligning with your soul's purpose, and yet we've unfortunately confused putting in effort with not having fun. It's a mindset thing.
