What is a Makerspace?

To answer simply: A Makerspace is like a Gym for Makers. For a more in-depth answer: A Makerspace is a place to learn new art and technology with like-minded people; to work with equipment you can't afford to own or store at home; and a creative center trying to fill our community with makers who can bring their love of craft, hobby, art, or skill to new levels. Our community wishes to build learning and teaching opportunities, as well as provide valuable networking resources with makers of all kinds.

Maker Spotlight

Red River Smiths

This is a club of blacksmiths that welcome people of all skill levels - From people who are interested in smithing to people who are already experienced blacksmiths. They often do public demonstrations and give those attending a hands-on experience. One of our own board members, Charles Keen (pictured on the right), attended one of their meetings and found himself learning a bit about the process. If you want to take a peek at the heart of this craft, club meetings take place on the last Saturday of every month at the LSUS Pioneer Heritage Center, from 9AM-Noon.

Call to action: As a charitable organization, we are in need of donations for our cause to bring the maker community the needed space and tools. All donations to our non-profit are tax-deductible.
