Container Case Study - Engineering Company in the Oil and Gas Sector
The company is a regular client of ours in the oil and gas sector. The team there approached us, seeking solutions to storage problems and the limited workspace available on board their vessel. Working closely with them, we have been able to develop and supply three new 20ft ‘one trip’ shipping containers, with each converted into a bespoke unit that meets the firm’s specific requirements.

The units include: internal partitions/curtains behind the double doors to keep the weather out while in use; heavy-duty steel shelving, workbenches, ply lining and insulation; and electrical installation, tool stacks and storage cupboards. We also created apertures so that they could fit air conditioning units, as the containers needed to be temperature controlled. Finally, we re-sprayed the units externally in the company’s corporate colours, one of which was an eye catching (and time consuming!) four tone paint specification. New Sunderland Site For U Hold The Key
We are delighted to confirm that our new U Hold The Key site in Sunderland will open soon. Located at Low Southwick (SR5 2BS), we expect this site to be operational in early November. It will house around 80 storage containers, ranging from our mini size (6ft x 6ft x 6ft) up to our large size (20ft x 8ft x 8ft 6”). The site itself will offer 24hr access and operate CCTV, and will be accessed via an electronic gate system, a system which the majority of our sites now use.

If you would like to find out more about this new U Hold The Key site please contact 0800 389 43 19 or click here.

Our site at Darlington A66 is now fully open for business.  For more information please click here.

Relocation of Eaglescliffe U Hold The Key Site
You may have noticed that the old MOD site at Allens West, Eaglescliffe has been designated for housing development and building on the site is now well underway. As a result, we have been asked to move our self-storage units off the site and so our U Hold The Key site there has now closed. We have located over 100 containers at Eaglescliffe since 2004 and are pleased that many of our customers are moving with us to our new site at Sadberge, Darlington, which is only five minutes away on the A66.

Over the years, we had over 2,500 customers using our facilities at Eaglescliffe. Some used the site for as short a time as one week, while others were with us almost from the start in 2004, storing items ranging from Christmas trees that wouldn’t fit into the loft, to full physical archives of sizeable businesses.

We would like to thank our customers for using this site over the years and particularly for bearing with us during the last few weeks, while we have been organising the relocation. For more information relating to this please click here.

High Demand In September
Demand for containers seems to be very high at the moment. September was our second best month ever for net sales and this year we are on course to achieve our highest container sales turnover since Parsons was founded.

Looking beyond the figures themselves, there is a range of factors at work, driving this strong performance. Sales have included a healthy mixture of conversion work, new and used standard containers, and refrigerated units. Also, by increasing our own orders of new equipment directly from the Far East, we have been in a better position than ever to respond quickly to customers’ requirements.

All in all, it is very encouraging to see sustained buoyancy in the shipping containers sector. Thanks to all of our customers who have contributed to our own success.

Positive Feedback
We always encourage feedback from our customers, but it is particularly satisfying when we receive an unsolicited email with a comment like the one below that landed in our inbox recently:
“Just to say that the container arrived okay and we are very pleased with it. Also, the driver was extremely pleasant, helpful and professional, which makes a nice change!”
Thanks to that customer and to everyone who sends us feedback. It is appreciated and useful, even when it isn’t as overwhelmingly positive. Check out our latest reviews here.

Share Your Views About Self-Storage
We are pleased to be able to support the work of Jennifer Owen, a PhD researcher in the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University. Jennifer is undertaking a major research project to gain a better understanding of self-storage. With the enormous economic and social changes that have occurred during the last half century, the nature of ‘storage’ and how we use it has come to reflect changing needs of individuals, families and businesses. If you use self-storage, Jennifer would really like to hear from you.
You can read more about the research here and complete the survey online here, also the cover letter from the student here.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning!
For the last few years, the Parsons Group has been an active supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. Each year, members of our team have got into Great British Bake Off mode and produced all sorts of wonderful cakes, scones and biscuits. 2016 was no exception and we welcomed visitors into our Manor House HQ on the morning of Friday 30th September. As usual, the people of Sedgefield were keen to sample our baked goods and we raised a healthy total of £155, which has been donated to support the fantastic and important work done by Macmillan.
