Conversion at Sunderland Christmas market

If you have been in Sunderland recently, you may have spotted some of our containers playing a festive role in the city. As part of the Christmas lights switch on and Sunderland Christmas Market, we converted a 20ft container into a special stand for the event, where the public could take to the stage and perform. In addition, two of our 20ft office conversions are on hire, located near the seasonal public ice rink on Keel Square. The area is at the heart of the major regeneration programme that is underway in Sunderland, led by Siglion, a joint venture between Carillion and Sunderland City Council. The transformation of that part of the city is well underway and is definitely worth a visit.

The conversions currently on site in Sunderland city centre are great examples of the versatility of containers, especially with the expert input of the Parsons team!

Parsons Containers team visits Intermodal Europe 2017
Last month, the Parsons Containers team journeyed  across the channel to attend the prestigious Intermodal Europe 2017 exhibition and conference at the Amsterdam RAI, in the company of 6,000 trade visitors from around the globe.

This was the world-leading event for companies associated with the container and intermodal industries. Covering all areas of container transport and logistics across road, rail and sea, the show was a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow container firms and potential clients alike.

Stephen Collins, container sales manager, who attended the three-day event with other members of  our senior team, comments: “Intermodal Europe is the key event in the container industry calendar, bringing together high-quality speakers and key exhibitors to provide an invaluable industry forum. The show was also a great place to get an inside track on all of the latest developments and emerging trends in our industry, as we make plans for the future at Parsons Containers."

“Ean, Lynda, Mark and I made lots of fantastic new contacts between us which we hope will develop
into future business opportunities.”

  • Another record year for ContainerContainer

Another record year for ContainerContainer
ContainerContainer marked its year-end in November with record sales achieved for the 5 year running. The total number of containers that we sold increased by 50 percent, significantly exceeding our targets and reflecting the sustained demand for our product range.

Notably, sales of the new ‘one trip’ containers contributed considerably to the impressive sales figures. The product, which has conveyed a single cargo around the world from east to west before being checked and delivered by our team, has proven to be a popular alternative to used containers during the past 12 months. In addition, the number of container conversions undertaken was at an all-time high, with 87 completed since December 2016.

Mark Harrop, container conversion co-ordinator, comments: “We are thrilled with how
ContainerContainer has performed over the past year, which is testament to our commitment to excellent customer service, competitive pricing and an extensive product range. We’re now busy setting targets for the forthcoming year and hope that our success continues in a similar fashion.”

Conversions on show at Newcastle’s family attraction
ContainerContainer has recently completed a double conversion project on behalf of Newcastle’s latest family attraction, further extending the breadth of bespoke conversions in our portfolio.

Two newly converted catering units are now serving food and beverages to the thousands of visitors flocking to Hadrian’s Tipi, the winter pop-up retreat located on Pilgrim Street in the heart of the city centre.

Modifications to the two 10ft containers included cutting out a serving hatch and fitting them with hydraulic pistons. Painted to the clients colour scheme.

Mark Harrop, container conversion co-ordinator, comments: “Orders for bespoke shipping container conversions continue to remain healthy due to their versatility for a wide range of end uses.

“We’re delighted to have been approached by Hadrian’s Tipi to create two catering units for this exciting project which is a highlight of Newcastle’s festive programme.”

Ean completes Wooler Trail Marathon
Not content with taking on the Austrian Ironman during the summer months, Parsons’ CEO Ean Parsons continues to tackle arduous sporting challenges and recently completed the Wooler Trail Marathon in an impressive time of 8:52.
The event is set in the heart of Northumberland National Park and covers 28 miles and just over 6,000 feet of ascent, making it a visually stunning but very tough race.

Ean Parsons commented: “After completing the Austrian Ironman in July I was keen to continue my competitive running. The undulating route was very demanding, but the stunning views were well worth the effort. I look forward to pushing myself further and taking on more challenges during 2018!”
