Dear Pastors, Friends, and Prayer Partners:
Jacob and I arrived home from the Philippines late Monday night and the word I would use to describe our time there is “Wow!” I have always loved preaching the gospel and I have always loved preaching in the Philippines. I especially love preaching the gospel in the Philippines!
This trip had four main sections:
I spent the first few days in the graduation events with Independent Baptist College Asia-Pacific. Many of you prayed with us and helped us when this ministry began and our prayers have been answered. We had over 450 students this past year and many graduated. Several of our graduates are already pastoring churches and many are serving in various capacities throughout the Philippines.
Following graduation week, Jake and I traveled to the island of Panay where I began preaching Evangelistic Meetings. Our first series of services were in Iloilo at Bible Baptist Church. We had great crowds and many responded in the services. The highlight for me was being able to address the inmates at a local prison where about 300 inmates came to hear the gospel. Over 50 prayed with us to trust Christ to save them from their sins! The church ministers weekly to these inmates for follow-up, counsel, and teaching. They have a great ministry and the pastor and I developed a special friendship. I look forward to serving again with these great people.
The next two nights were Evangelistic Services at Messiah Baptist Church in Concepcion. This too was an incredible meeting and many pastors joined us from various churches (and islands) nearby. We had a full house each service and many even sat outside to hear the gospel. In fact, the church installed loud-speakers and broadcasted my gospel messages to the entire village! Souls were saved nightly in these services. The pastor of this church is an evangelist who has already planted 47 Baptist churches and who is a man of great faith and prayer. He prayed fervently for souls to be saved and for more churches to be planted and regularly sees answers to his prayers. I loved his ministry but especially his faith! His sons, who are all pastors, told me that family devotions with dad were at 4am each day and involved much singing and praying. Jacob was especially thankful that our family devotions are in the evenings before bedtime!
Our final meeting was in Roxas City with Christian Bible Baptist Church. This church worked diligently to fill the building with people who needed the gospel and the invitations reflected their work. We had 37 saved in the first service; 31 in the second, and 21 Sunday morning! God answered our prayers! Pastor Arnel has invited us back to conduct Evangelistic services in his church as well as in churches throughout Panay. The church is very diligent to “follow-up” on the converts and not only have Sunday School programs each Sunday morning but also Discipleship classes between Sunday School and the morning service. It was a blessing to listen as dozens met in Discipleship small groups throughout the property!
Thank you for helping us to take the gospel to the Philippines. Just today I was meditating on the Great Commission given by our Savior in Matthew 28. I preach the gospel because we are to win souls and baptize them. I preach revivals and partner with local churches because we are to teach those who turn to Christ to observe all things that our Savior commanded. I could not do it without your prayers and support. Fruit is abounding to your account!
I would like to share two more things with you. I did visit the Manila North Cemetery where my friend Tim Avila weekly teaches and ministers to the homeless children and families who live there (there are hundreds who do). In the past, we have helped him to purchase curriculum for his students and they are learning and growing and many are trusting in Christ as Savior. It is a blessed ministry to these people who live in such poverty. I would like to raise $300 to help purchase the kids some lightweight and inexpensive backpacks where they could keep their books and supplies all in one place. Would you like to have a part in that ministry? If so, you can give on our website via the donation page. I would also like to help the church in Roxas City to finish a final section of their building. It would take about $3000 and would be used almost daily in the ministries of the church. They have a Christian School and a Bible College and host many conferences and youth camps. I am amazed at all they do and the sacrifices they make for the cause of Christ. Would you pray with me about this need? If God were to lead you to help, you can also give to this project via our website. Just to let you know, I plan to partner with the Carpenter’s Project to handle the finances and the building project. Every dime you give will go to this need.
Thanks for reading this long report. We have posted many photos on our facebook page! I hope you will view them.
We would love to hear from you and we would love to pray with you. Text me your prayer requests and we will pray with you about any needs you have. My cell number is 740-973-3549.
