Youth Activities Update

Mobilizing our global network for the World Water Forum

Dear youth, partners & supporters,

The 8th World Water Forum in Brasilia is just around the corner, and we will be there! Our youth initiatives have been very active, and we'd like to share some recent successes with you. Highlights include:

• In December we brought together 40 young African leaders in Burkina Faso to plan concrete actions and reinforce their capacities to respond to water and climate challenges. They're now implementing local projects, and their Vision is being shared with local and national decision makers. Some will be making their voices heard at the World Water Forum.

•For young European water leaders, #WaterGeneration Grants will finance your water projects – from awareness-raising, education to field actions. Open to nationals of Council of Europe member states. Applications due February 15.

•In Central Asia, we're hosting a #WaterGeneration Meetup in Tajikistan to help young water leaders prepare for the Forum and be agents of change through concrete actions at local, national and regional levels.

Thank you for your interest and dedication,
–The ISW-SWE team

#WaterGeneration Meetup – Ouagadougou

In subsaharan Africa, only 15% of the population has access to safe drinking water. From November 30 to December 4, we brought together 40 young African water leaders aged 18-27 in Burkina Faso's capital to make a change! Participants attended workshops, networked and pitched their water projects to a jury. The event was organized by the ISW in collaboration with Eau Vive, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Artois-Picardie Water Agency, with support from Burkina Faso's Ministry of Water and Sanitation.

Your Future, Your Climate launch

December was also the kickoff for Your Future, Your Climate, our field project in three West African countries. Three youth-led micro-projects to strengthen capacity and climate resilience are now under construction in Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin. We are thrilled to be working with Global Water Partnership–West Africa, Eau Vive/Direction Togo and the National Water Partnerships of Burkina Faso and Benin to make these projects possible.
