Happy Holidays!

December 2021

We wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS and a great start in the year 2022 !

A word from Sarah Dousse, Executive Director and Antonella Cagnolati, President
Despite the uncertainties that persist, we want to take the road to 2022 with hope and determination, determined to make our contribution to the development of a world of solidarity and justice and share this adventure with you all.

We wish you all the best for the end of the year!

We thank you for following our actions in 2021 and we look forward to continuing to build a more sustainable, inclusive and connected world with you in 2022.
We hope the year is ending well for you. It is a pleasure to share some of our major accomplishments from 2021 and some of the actions we have planned for 2022. Many more are to come!
Strategy 2021 - 2025
Convinced that water is the prerequisite for any development, the ISW-SWE wants to be a connector - facilitator who, through its agility and boldness, contributes to systemic changes for an equitable and sustainable management of natural resources.

Our institutional strategy 21-25 - officially launched in January 2021 - puts forward structuring elements on which we can now rely to carry out our mission.

We thank a major institutional partner, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), for having made the development of this strategy possible.

Moldova - our commitment reaffirmed
Our action in Moldova continues: the master plan of the Nirnova river basin is now available, thanks to the collaboration between our team and the European Union EUWI+ project. In autumn 2021, our president - Antonella Cagnolati - had the opportunity to contribute to a seminar encompassing water-related issues at the French Embassy in Chisinau while working closely with the Nirnova basin citizens, the authorities and our local partners.

We thank the French Water Agencies for being faithful partners of our Moldovan program.

On the road to Dakar: the World Water Forum 2022
The World Water Forum - to be held in March 2022 - and for the first time in Sub-Saharan Africa, is a major momentum to advance major water issues. Under the aegis of the President of Senegal, this Forum is intended to be a major political reasoning box.

As a pivotal player in citizen and youth mobilization, the ISW ensures that citizens' voices are heard at the Forum. We are convinced that if civil society in all its components joins forces, it will be able to move the lines, and ensure the necessary rapid transformations.

To this end, we run two major networks: the Butterfly Effect - which brings together +130 NGOs and the World Youth Parliament for Water.
Our advocacy work with civil society and youth in the framework of the World Water Forum is made possible thanks to the support of the European Union, the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Artois-Picardy Water Agency.

More than 130 civil society organizations from 5 continents join forces
The network of water NGOs/CSOs, the Butterfly Effect, animated by the ISW-SWE, is currently working hard to bring together, federate and disseminate policy positions from its members to advance the water agenda. Since this summer, a consultative process is being conducted and regional workshops are organized.

We have been able to ensure that the voices of civil society were heard at the preparatory meeting of the World Water Forum, which took place in October 2021, in Senegal.
Find all the activities, news and opportunities of the Butterfly Effect in its latest network newsletter (available in ENG, FR and SPANISH).
Youths as agents of transformation
As a privileged partner of Senegal in terms of youth, the ISW-SWE is co-organizing a Youth Space within the framework of the World Water Forum, and will ensure that the youth of the world are represented, equipped and heard.

One of our main activities is the organization of the 5th World Youth Parliament for Water which will take place in Dakar during the Forum and will see the participation of more than 60 youth from 5 continents.

We look forward to working with young people who are hungry for change and encouraging a global youth movement for water. See you in Dakar !
