MAYA is a research and innovation action funded by the European Commission in 2015 and involving 11 academic and industrial partners from 6 different countries. MAYA aims at developing simulation methodologies and multidisciplinary tools for the design, engineering and management of CPS-based (Cyber Physical Systems) Factories, in order to strategically support production-related activities during all the phases of the factory life-cycle, from the integrated design of the product - process - production system, through the optimization of the running factory, till the dismissal/reconfiguration phase.

MAYA consortium met at Politecnico of Milan for a two-days meeting. Partners dedicated the first day to discuss about Work Package 2 development and the second day for updating on the project status and planning activities for the following months.

Work Package 3 - From Concept to Software
After one year of project, where MAYA requirements and definitions (Work Package 1: WP1), and data model refinements (WP2) were defined in WP3 (led by Siemens PLM), it is about time to write some software. WP3 deals with 3 major topics, each one focused on the development of a different software component:
- The Centralized Support Infrastructure
- The MAYA Simulation Framework
- The integration with the High Performance (Cloud) environment

We are organizing a special session “ICT-enabled technologies in Smart Factories” at FAIM 2017 conference in collaboration with Daedalus project. The conference theme is “Intelligent Manufacturing and Engineering Methods for Industry 4.0”.
