Welcome to our first DRASACS newsletter!

We have created a newsletter to keep you up to date on what is happening in the world of DRASACS. If you have not heard of us then we are the Doncaster Rape and Sexual Abuse Service. It will include what we are up to, our fundraising events and any links to external websites and our social media pages.

Space 4 Me takes off

We have recently re-branded our children's counselling service and produced new marketing materials. Using the term 'counselling' children may feel nervous or uneasy and therefore we wanted to make them feel safe and not scared. The service is now branded as 'Space 4 Me' as it gives a child the space and safe environment to express themselves and any issues they may have.

The new re-branding of the leaflets and our new roller banner has recently created interest at the Children's Care Group awareness raising event and the adult safeguarding event.

Below are some recent images of our child therapy rooms:

Our Success
At the end of 2016 there was the Doncaster Business Chamber Awards and DRASACS were nominated for the 'Third Sector Business or Organisation of the Year' award. We are proud to announce that we came in the top six! This shows how our dedication and hard work paid off in 2016 and we cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store for us!
DRASACS led the South Yorkshire Independent Sexual Violence Partnership consortium bid for the South Yorkshire ISVA service commissioned by the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner. The consortium were successful in their bid and we look forward to working with partners BSARCS, SRASACS and RACS on this project.
In December, all of our team took part in an eating disorder training session which was conducted by SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association). The training allows us to recognise if any of our clients have an eating disorder, to which we can then refer to them syeda or to offer them guidance in what to do next.
Children in Need Video
In November, Children in Need produced a video highlighting the work we do and how we can help change people's lives. The video was broadcasted on Look North and was also shown on Children in Need. This video has recieved brilliant feedback and it showed how our service can benefit others' by offering them support. If you missed the video or would like to see it again press the image above!
Fun at the Ball
In November, Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers and other professionals, organised a Winter Family Law Dinner at the Royal Victoria Inn in Sheffield to raise awareness of our service. We are pleased to announce over £1,793 was raised through ticket fees, raffle tickets and auctions. Some of the DRASACS team attended the ball to support the event and raise awareness of the services we provide.
