Report Pesticide Related Illnesses
The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a branch of Cal EPA, has issued a provider alert to remind healthcare providers that under California law, any known or suspected pesticide-related illness or injury must be reported within 24 hours to the Local Health Officer (LHO). Timely reporting on your part allows the County Agricultural Commissioner to initiate the prompt investigation that is required for all reported cases. Of note, illnesses related to bleach or disinfectant exposure is considered a pesticide-related illness.
