Homes for Haringey: February e-newsletter

Below is an update on some of our activities in Haringey in the past month. Please contact us at if you have any questions.

First Haringey Council homes built in 30 years

Haringey Council has welcomed tenants into the first new council homes built in the borough for at least 30 years.

Residents have now moved into four new properties in Barnes Court, the first of 31 new homes being built on former garage and car park sites in seven housing development sites across the borough.

New team structures to improve services

We are currently introducing changes to the teams that work directly with our tenants so that we can provide you with more efficient, responsive and cost-effective services.
One of the benefits of these changes will be an increase in the number of face-to-face visits we are able to make.  Also, staff will have handheld tablets on which to better record information.
For our tenants there will be some new faces on the teams you come into contact with. They will be featured in our upcoming February issues of Homes Zone. New people will be introduced as soon as possible but there may be slight disruption to services as the new teams settle in.  We will do everything we can to minimise disruption but ask you to bear with us in the interim.

Take charge of your repairs

Homes for Haringey is helping residents to take charge of their homes – starting with new self help videos for household chores.

In order to avoid being charged for professional help with minor tasks, residents are being reminded of ways to help themselves wherever possible.

We have recently created new DIY repairs videos in conjunction with MedioritePlus, a youth-led video production company that offers talented young people the chance to move from assisting to producing professional video and photography for paying clients.

These instructional repairs videos generated paid work for four local young people who were involved in pre-production, production and editing work.

Improved estate sweeps - You said... We did!

You said there was too much litter on our estates and we have brought back twice-weekly sweeping to address this. This will help us to ensure our estates are places we are proud of.
