Fellow Richmond District Neighbors,

It is now April, and along with the arrival of spring, we also have the arrival of the first of many committee hearings on Senator Scott Wiener's bill, SB 827.

This bill would legalize the construction of mid-rise apartment buildings throughout the state of California along transit lines, including in our very own neighborhood here in the Richmond District.

Supervisors Fewer, Peskin and other elected officials at City Hall are trying to get San Francisco to formally oppose this bill.

We need to contact her office and the offices of Assemblymember Ting and Senator Wiener and let them know that we support this bill and that we support efforts to make it legal to build the kind of missing middle housing that the Richmond District desperately needs to help contribute to ending the housing shortage and meet our climate change goals as a state

Tell Sandra Lee Fewer, Phil Ting, and Scott Wiener why you support SB 827 and that you're part of Grow The Richmond!

Personal messages are the most effective—make sure they know your story and know you're not just sending another form letter.

Please be sure to copy us at hello@growtherichmond.com on the email that you send to Supervisor Fewer and Assemblyman Ting, so that we can keep track of how many letters they've received from pro-housing Richmond District residents!

If you haven't already, go check out (and share!) these articles written by our own volunteers on the need for us to legalize the kinds of homes that already exist in the Richmond District, but are illegal to build today:

Watch Grow The Richmond volunteers Caroline, Asumu, and Jane speak to the Board of Supervisors Land Use Committee about why they support SB 827
