Hello Richmond District Neighbors!

It's been a busy month in the Richmond District as we continue to grow, continue to advocate, and continue to push for solutions to our local, and regional housing shortage.

Here's a brief summary of a few different things that happened in January with fellow Grow The Richmond volunteers:

  1. We authored a letter of support for a proposal that would end a loophole for debt-service and property tax passthroughs
  2. Attended Phil Ting's town hall and expressed support for his efforts in co-sponsoring Senator Wiener's bill SB 827
  3. We authored our own Medium piece expressing our support for Senator Wiener's SB 827
  4. Hosted our 2018 kickoff event and met neighbors new and old all working to Grow The Richmond
  5. We're now registered as a neighborhood group with SF Planning and we're getting notifications about all sorts of project applications in the Richmond!
  6. We also authored a piece on Medium about the need to look toward the future and change our car centric culture in the Richmond
  7. Assisted fellow YIMBY Action volunteers in gathering signatures to streamline the approval of affordable housing for teachers and low-moderate income folks

ACTION ALERT

Please take five minutes to email Supervisor Sandra Fewer, Assemblymember Phil Ting, and Senator Scott Wiener and thank them for introducing SB 827 in the California state legislature (in Sandra's case, ask her if she supports SB 827 and be sure to mention that you are a supporter).

Be sure to mention that you're a constituent, a volunteer with Grow The Richmond, and that you're looking forward to the potential for more housing along transit rich corridors like Geary Boulevard.
