Seven graduates recently completed ECM's four month intensive Sunday school training at ECM’s Mission Garizim in Congo! The training included weekly practice in surrounding villages in which the students were challenged with reviving Sunday schools that were failing. They concluded with two weeks of practice and then conducted a five-day teacher training seminar to strengthen existing Sunday schools and start new ones.

Mission Garizim was started by John and Lorella Rouster in the 1990’s with a goal of multiplying and strengthening Bible-teaching ministries for children in Congo. The format most often chosen by churches in Congo is Sunday school, so it's a critical ministry! We pray many will hear the Good News from these new Sunday school teachers!

• Pray for the kids and staff at all of our Hope Centers. It has been a difficult year. Famine, sickness, lack of funds, and/or discouragement has hit all of our families. Pray for wisdom and effectiveness for our staff - that they wouldn't grow weary in doing good! And for God to provide the means to help more people.

• Praise that Caroline, the young girl in Uganda with a large facial tumor, is recovering from her surgery. She has been in the hospital for almost 4 weeks now and is looking at another several weeks there. Progress is slow but each day is a little better. Caroline will need to have another surgery down the road for facial reconstruction. It is a long road for this brave little girl and she needs our prayers!

Esther Nagasha
Kamwokya Hope Center, Uganda

Esther lives with her grandmother in a miserable looking little house in the Kamwokya slums, surrounded by trenches of waste. She was abandoned by both her parents. The grandmother makes bags to try to make some income. Sadly, it's hardly enough to feed them both, let alone to send Esther to school.
