2019 NCFR Conference Proposals
Don't Miss Your Chance to Present at NCFR 2019 in Texas

The conference proposal system is open and accepting submissions. The deadline is Monday, March 4, 2019, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Submit a proposal here.

Still preparing your proposal? A few things to note:

  1. Download and read the full call for proposals for details on conference presentation formats, criteria, topics, and more.
  2. The Affiliate Councils Board welcomes proposals for two 2019 workshops for members of NCFR's affiliate councils (local chapters). Email your proposals by March 4 to Bethany Cox. See full details.
  3. The Theory Construction and Research Methodology (TCRM) Workshop — a preconference workshop where research works in progress are discussed in an interactive environment — is also accepting proposals through a separate submission process. The TCRM submission deadline is March 15. See full details.  

Thank you to everyone who already submitted proposals! The 2019 NCFR Annual Conference will be held at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas, on Nov. 20–23.

NCFR members: Please sign up as a reviewer for this year's NCFR conference proposals to help ensure a high-quality conference program! All proposals are blind peer-reviewed. Serving as a proposal reviewer is a benefit of NCFR membership.

The deadline to sign up as a reviewer is Monday, March 4 — the same day proposals are due. Thank you for your consideration, and thanks to those who have signed up already!

JFTRNCFR's Journal of Family Theory & Review (JFTR) publishes original contributions in all areas of family theory, including advancing theories through critical and metatheoretical projects, and comprehensive reviews of literature and media.

The following early-view articles are now available to subscribers, along with several commentaries in response. These will be published in a forthcoming issue centered on family policy.

JFTR subscribers can access articles by logging in to the NCFR website and visiting the journal access webpage.

Call for Papers
New Conceptualizations and Directions in the Study of Family Context

Submit Proposals by May 1, 2019

Editors of the Journal of Family Psychology seek submissions for a special section on new approaches to the study of family context and how those approaches contribute to the understanding of within- and between-family differences in family contexts. 

Submissions are due May 1, 2019. Complete information is available in the call for papers.

New Pew Report Explores Relationships Between Religion & Happiness

A new Pew Research Center analysis using three datasets that include the United States and more than two dozen other countries found that those active in religious groups tend to be happier and more civically engaged than adults not affiliated with a religion or those who are inactive members of religious groups.

The new report also examines relationships between religion and well-being after considering other factors, among them marital status.
