Our Education Garden at 920 Cherry Street, Grand Rapids could use a little love and care, could you lend a hand? Over the past four months our small garden has been maintained on a regular basis by 5–6 members who have worked as a team (socially distanced of course) to tend to it's needs. Now we are opening the opportunity up for others to help if you would like. We would meet at the site on Wednesday, September 2 at 9:30 am to put in a couple of hours of weeding, seed collection, and potting up of small plants that need a good home (maybe yours?). Because we need to keep the group small to be able to distance appropriately, the first 5 members who contact me will be signed up as volunteers for that day. There will be one more work day in October to collect more seed and pick up plant ID labels for winter storage.
Items needed for Wednesday, September 2 include:
- containers to bring plants back home
- kneeling pad
- soil knife or trowel
- drinking water
I will bring extra tools if you do not have the above items. I look forward to seeing a few of you in the garden soon for some fun, learning and camaraderie!
Please contact me if you are available to help out:
