Murder Mystery Solution
The answer is that Mary strikes him with the leg of lamb she has retrieved from the freezer, intended for supper.  When she realises he’s dead, she seeks to cover up the murder for the sake of her unborn child, and cooks the lamb.  She later feeds it to the police officers investigating the murder, and as they eat it, one remarks that the weapon ‘is probably right under [their] noses’!
