Welcome to my First Post Here!

Thank you for being here! I’ll send you an email once a month, for now ( I may add more later), and that will happen on the 2nd of every month. I will usually be passing on content relating to my daily painting and drawing practice. I live in a wonderful location and I paint the landscape in this area daily. Self portraits and abstract compositions are also thrown into the mix. The methods I use vary a bit, mostly because I need to keep myself constantly interested, and there needs to be some sense of continual surprise in what I’m making. But, the abstract compositions come from a different place than the more representational things, and I’ll discuss that at length at some point. Both these 2 methods feed each other, and I consider them both equally important. My landscape paintings and collages would NOT look the way they do, if it were not for my long history with abstraction. I’ll show you things I’m working on, and I’ll try to let you know what’s going on in my head.
I’ll show you a lot of work, and at different stages of completion, more than what I post on FB or Instagram, and I’ll let you know the ins-and-outs of the various mediums and methods I use. I’ll include some instructional content, and explain how and why I do things, because I know SOME of you are making art (perhaps half of you, or maybe more??) , or might welcome strategies to help you make more art. I have a fair amount of free content relating to painting that I’m happy to share, and perhaps at some point, I’ll put together a course or two, relating to the things I do. If I make a course, that won’t happen right away. I’m still thinking about the pros and cons of teaching online. My next mailing to you will be on the 2nd of March, 2023. That photo essay will document the making of a small painting from start to finish, and the framing of the piece. I’ll see you then…..and thank you again for spending some time with me!
