Heart Health Month
February is National Heart Month. Heart Disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Nearly 1 in 4 deaths in the United Stares are caused by heart disease - that's about 610,000 people per year. We have the power to change these numbers by decreasing cardiac and stroke events.
How can you maintain a healthy heart? During the month, start taking action to improve your heart health. Here are some simple ways to take action and protect your health:
- Don’t smoke
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Eat a healthy diet
- Exercise regularly
- Know your numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc)
- Lower your blood pressure
- Visit your doctor if there is concern
