2019 Missionary Book Dedicated in Spring Meeting

On April 11, 2018, General Conference (GC) Publishing Ministries presented the 2019 Missionary Book of the year to GC Spring Meeting delegates. The book, Hope for Today’s Families, was written by Willie and Elaine Oliver. It emphasizes God’s plan for the family, presenting Bible principles and resources to build healthy family relationships.

A dedication ceremony was held and each delegate received a copy of the book. Hope for Today’s Families will be translated and printed in various languages to be ready for mass distribution in 2019.

2018 World Literature Ministry Coordinating Board

The World Literature Ministry Coordinating Board (WLMCB) was held March 26-29, 2018, at the General Conference headquarters. The main purpose of the WLMCB  is to review policies and set out plans to expand production and distribution of books containing God's message for today.
A team of Publishing Ministries leaders and publishing house representatives from divisions worldwide attended the meetings. All of them are committed to seeking unity and partnership between Publishing Ministries and official Adventist publishing houses.

Literature Evangelist Congress Held in Mexico

A Literature Evangelist (LE) Congress with more than 250 LEs from the Inter-Oceanic Mexican and Central Mexican Unions was held in Acapulco, Mexico, March 5-8, 2018. The congress focused on the theme Primero La Mision (First the Mission), emphasizing the importance of mission in literature ministry.
To honor the memory of Salvador Marchisio, the first missionary LE who introduced the Adventist message to Mexico in 1891, 60
LEs (20 from the Inter-Oceanic Union and 10 from the Central Mexican Union), received Salvador Marchisio medals in honor of their 15 or more years of faithful active service as literature evangelists. Retirees and best performing assistant Publishing Ministries leaders and LEs were also honored.
In attendance were both union presidents, Moises Reina (Inter-Oceanic) and Jose Dzul (Central Mexican); Erwin Gonzalez, Inter American Division Publishing director; Stephen
Apola, General Conference Publishing associate director; David Javier Perez, Mexican Adventist Editorial Group president; Mario Martinelli, Editorial Safeliz president; Martin Olivera, Inter-Oceanic Mexican Union Publishing director; Francisco Brigido, Central Mexican Union Publishing director; and other senior officers from both publishing houses.

Praise God for leading the
congress and instilling a passion for literature ministry in all the LEs and leaders in attendance.

Mozambique Union Publishing Events

Earlier this year, Almir Marroni, General Conference Publishing Ministries director, visited Mozambique for training meetings and to promote Adventist Church publications. About 300,000 Adventists live and worship in Mozambique, a Portuguese-speaking country in southeast Africa. The church is motivated to strengthen the literature distribution structure through church members and literature evangelists. Praise the Lord!

Spicer Adventist University Holds Student LE Training

Southern Asia Division (SUD) Publishing Ministries recently sponsored a Student Literature Evangelist Institute at Spicer Adventist University in Pune, India.

One of the highlights of the event was the Victory Feast. Student LEs received awards and recognition for their outstanding work in the previous summer.

Benedict Biswas, SUD Publishing Ministries director, expects that more than 1,000 young people will sell Adventist literature in 2018, 125 of whom are students at Spicer Adventist University.
