COVID-19 CAN'T STOP THEM
by Louis Reis | Georgia, United States

Yolanda Pacheco began working as a literature evangelist last year without any previous experience. After working for years as a department supervisor in the private sector, she was looking for mission work. During the COVID-19 crisis in Atlanta, Georgia, when fear and doubt paralyzed nearly everyone, she decided to walk by faith and continued knocking on doors.

Pacheco sells Family Bibles and health books. She works mainly by going door-to-door (cold door), making presentations in homes at the door or even on the street. She presents books wherever she finds people, and occasionally canvasses evangelical churches. She is well received because she is very enthusiastic; she never accepts “no” as an answer and never gives up. She planned to be a colporteur for a short time, just to have a missionary experience. But she has been blessed so much that she can’t see going back to her old life; she is considering literature evangelism as a career. In the last few months she sold hundreds of Bibles and books and reached the maximum bonus in every campaign.

When news of the pandemic was most alarming, Pacheco sold 25 books in one afternoon. It seems the greater the fear, the higher the interest in our books. Pacheco’s literature work has been an absolute success. Like her, several other LEs made the same decision and also reached the top bonus, 25 percent, given every three months. To reach it, LEs need to sell no less than US$15,000 worth of product. Regarding the check that appears in the photo, the amount represents the LEs paid purchase plus the bonus ($7,500 purchase plus the bonus of $1,875). During this time we had more than five baptisms, the direct result of the ministry of our faithful colporteurs.
